The correct answer is, it's the Advanced X-Wing. There isn't a Heavy X-WIng.

Wrong. There is no X-Wing (Heavy Variant). There is only the Advanced X-Wing from the Kashyyk Quest.

By the way, if you're going to correct someone(wrongly) in a condescending way, could you at least TRY and hit the right keys?

I think that the term "Heavy X-wing" springs from the use of other "heavies"--Heavy Z-95, Heavy TIE Fighter, Heavy Scyk. The correct term *is* the "Advanced X-wing"--but both terms refer to the same thing.

Aye, even I have a habit of sayin "Heavy X" as apposed to Advanced, quicker to type.

OK, there are only two types of X-Wings in the game.

The first is, of course, the standard crafted one, gets up to about 101.5k mass with good resources, perhaps a bit more. I never crafted one with really good stuff myself to see, but that's about as high as I've ever found.

The second is the advanced X-Wing chassis with 180k mass, which you get from the Kashyyyk corvette quest from the Rebel Outpost. Many people, myself included, simply refer to it as a heavy X-Wing...the word heavy IS easier to type than advanced, and faster if you're talking in guildchat and in the middle of a fight for example.

Some in-game NPC dialog refers to it as advanced, some as heavy the badge is: ...has been awarded the Rebel Heavy X-wing starfighter.

They're the same.

most call it the Heavy because it has more mass. if it had other features id say advanced(such as a faster hyperjump timer).

Heh...but you forget: the name of the deed is "Advanced X-wing" .

Do you need to do the quest to fly the advanced or just need to be master?
