Now that Kessel is no longer PVP, is it possible to PVP in space anymore? How do you do it?

You can PvP at almost anytime when you are in space.

When you enter space the first thing you should do is seek out an Imperial or Rebel space station and /comm them. When you do that, you have the opportunity to go 'Overt' for the rest of the time you are in space. Once you land the 'Overt' status is returned to normal.

Then, all you need to do is locate opposite faction players that have similarly chosen to go 'Overt' in space. Once that happens, combat may ensue.

If you want All PvP All the Time, you need to head to the 'Deep Space' region and duke it out there. You need Prestige Points to get there, from what I understand and I am uncertain about how to acquire those points myself.

Good luck!

Go Overt or go to Deep space.

Kessel as PvE is a temporary fix i think until sony comes up with an new master mission.

The future of PvP is not uncertain.

To acquire prestige points, you must be a master pilot. your XP comes in as Presitge points instead. It takes a measly 30k prestige (4-5 witchblood fighters) to take your first trip into deep space. Once there, the prestige begins to flow as you take on Tier 5 and 6 ships. I currently have over 3mil Prestige...not hard to get.

Keep dreaming. You realize that switching kessle to PvE was a HOTFIX?
Kind of an indicator on where their priorities are isn't it? Their priorities appear to be with the majority of their userbase, whom, does not really want to be involunatarly induced into a PvP scenario.

No, he doesn't.

He also doesn't realize that this fix was forced by the players who were doing the load-killing and not the victims of such moronic activities.

Exactly, although it would have been cooler if they put in a set 30 to 45 second timer where when you enter a zone you are 'invulnerable' to attack. That would at least give a player a chance. If that ended up not being long enough, then it could always be upped some.

I keep saying it, guys like him would be happier in Planetside. Pure 100% PvP, No carebears. Spent quite a long time there myself. Hell, in Planetside, there are times when stuff like camping the spawn tubes (load killing) is a valid tactic. (although any vet will destroy the spawn tube rather than camp it like a noob if he can)

I hear you - the difference being the focus of the two games.

If SWG was intended to have been a galactic frag-fest (and as an old Quake I, II, and III vet [waiting for IV] there's not a d@mn thing wrong with a good ole' frag-fest) it would have been designed entirely differently.

The fact is that SWG was developed with a much more social goal in mind - which should have been obvious with the inclusion of such character types as 'Tailor', 'Image Designer', and 'Entertainer'.

I just don't understand the mindset that all other players must conform to someone else's logic or get insulted and belittled ona public forum. It reeks of immaturity, but I won't even get started.

I agree, Planetside would be a much better fit. (And that's not a bag on PS players - see my Quake obsessions as per above. =P )

The main problem with the PVP was the 1-3 shot kills. It needed to be hit with the nerf bat. Having customizable ships opens another pandoras box on balance. Sure its a cool feature, but once the uber items get RE'd, there will be a few that dominate the many. But, the bottom line is usually, the better the group, the more your numbers, the better you will do in PVP.

Yes it is not fun to get 1 shot ganked while on a mission, I believe that was the main reason for the hotfix. It sure was difficult to get ace while Kessel was PVP though. I had a lot of fun with my friends keeping the enemy off my back while i killed the vette.

Almost all adversaries are defeatable with a large enough group. Any problem in Kessel could be dealt with if you got your friends together. I think that a lot of people wanted to master pilot with 2-3 guys instead of getting a group of 10+ together.
