Thread: YT-2400, Why Bother?

From the bits of info I've seen is that it's nothing much more then a reskinned POB ship, probably the YT-1300, so it's 5 million mass, 2 turrets, and 2 missles.

My two credits worth is that to me it's not worth it. Mostly because Igrew up with the original movies so I like the look of the YT-1300 much more then YT-2400. The real nail in the coffin though is the boss you have to fight to get the deed, in this YT-2400 quest guide TH says that the deed is untradeable so you have to loot it yourself from a Necrosis level elite boss. For my CL15 pilot this is pretty much a suicide mission even in a full group of CL80s.

Well, if that's the case, then I won't be planning on replacing my VT-49, "Miss-directed Funds" any time soon. As an Imperial pilot, I can't fly a YT-1300 anyway, and novelty aside, the idea of trying to fly in the cockpit view (my prefered POV) in a ship with the cockpit shunted off to one side of the roll centre strikes me as slightly insane.

it will be ok, we wont hit that asteroid.. just look through the cockpit window, everything is at least 10 meters away

I think the purely aesthetic difference is kind of a good thing, it means it'll be a PoB for those who want something different then their mastery's PoB ship. I personally don't like the Nova Courier, so the YT-2400 would be a great alternative for me.

Now lets just hope it's not harder to get than Mandalorian armor.

Heh. Is it any wonder that Lando managed to scrape that dish off the top of the Falcon going through the Death Star II?

Hopefully some of the good folks in this forum will have acquired one of these machines within a couple of days, and can provide an answer. My question is, astetic or RP considerations aside, why should I mothball my VT-49 Decimator (you could just as easily substitute the Nova or YT-1300) in favor of the YT-2400?

In other words, does anyone know if the basic chassis for the -2400 differs from the other Master level POB ships? More mass (like that's necessary), more gun hardpoints (where would they go?), or more launcher slots?

I'm just looking for a reason. I have no problem with anyone who wants to fly one simply because it looks different, or they feel it lets them RP better, and I'm always in favor of increased diversity in space. I'm just curious about differences in stats.

if they give me another pob slot i would love to use it.. But at the moment,i have a fully decorated Deci, and a fully decorated Y8, and i dont want to lose any of them :/

Heck, this ship is one of the main reasons I got this expansion. I've seen pics of its floorplan and it feels very spacious. It's a totally different model than the 1300 series.

And I'm pretty sure the ship deed is tradeable.

This is TH said in this thread about it being tradeable:

Is it tradeable? not like the JSF where you don't need to do the quest?

Is the final boss, HK-Whats his name, like Necrosis? Able to repeat the quest?

No, it is not tradable.

Yes, you can repeat the quest, but it can be looted only once per person so if you are on a group of 8, take turns looting HK-47.

It's all about looking cool. Why do you think Leaph still clings to that rickety old A-wing?

PersonallyI think the YT 1300 and 2400 are ugly on the outside as for the nova if it wasnt 1 big hallway on the inside I'd love it too. I like the Exterior of the nova and deci but by far i think the deci has the best interior.
