When I aced the Alliance's "Vortex Squadron" I got through tier 4 by grinding away destroy duty missions, which supplied me with a constant supply of tier 4 TIEs and it wasn't too hard.
But nowI took up Smuggler's Alliance and it's time to get through tier 4 again. But the damn destroy duty missions are way too hard because the "bosses" are tier 4 TIE Aggressors... and those damn things are nasty! I can barely take one out without it blowing away my shields and almost all of my front or rear armor. And then when two spawn I don't even stand a chance.
So how have others gotten through tier 4 in Smuggler's Alliance? Any tips?

Take a mission from the tier4 RSF or Corsec trainer? or find a good spot in Dathomir or Endor. explore a little.

The spawns are camped insanely. As soon as an NPC spawns, it's swarmed by two or three people, sometimes more.
And I haven't tried any of the other trainers. Never thought of that...

So don't just go to the common spawns. Do a search when you enter a system and find how crowded it isor, alternately learn to get faster than them. You asked about xps, not loot rights. You only need a couple hits to get full xps, if you wanted loot, you should have said so.

I earned all but 500k helping out fellow guildies and some non-guild friends on their missions. A novel idea it seems, but this way it doesn't feel like a grind

I ground out all of my Tier Four xp in Kessel. If you go overt you can rake in the faction, too.

I've done this too, and you're correct it's the perfect way to "grind" I'm often surprised at how much experience/faction/loot I end up with after a long mission. I wish more people would realize it.

I'm not talking about loot. I've got enough of it.
But anyway, nevermind. I think I've got some ideas now.

Take the "save the smuggler" or steal the imperial ship missions. Those will offer a reletively fast way to grind out the missions and you'll have the spawns all to yourself. That is what I did instead of the destroy duty missions. You will only have to fight 2 aggressors if you do the save the smuggler, or if you don't want to fight any, you can do the steal the imperial ship.

My method isn't exactly the fastest, but it's been working pretty well for me. I go to the Dantooine station and take the destroy mission from there. Tier 2 and 3 baddies, relatively easy. The real benefit of this, though, is that the XP isn't terrible, but they drop a LOT of loot. Fly that mission for a half-hour or so at a time, then sell all those components you get to the Chassis vendor and you can make some good cash quick. Not the best method if you're in a real hurry to hit Master, butgood for padding the wallet a bit on a slow stroll to the final missions.

I took RSF tier 4 blacksun destroy duty missions so I could try and find a blacksun helmet in the process of grinding my tier 4 SA exp.
On one character I found the helmet while finishing up my last skill box. On the other I made master and still haven't found a blacksun helmet.
Still the exp and the credits are really nice from that RSF tier 4 blacksun kill mission...all targets are tier 4 and 5.
The RSF tier 4 trainer is located all the way in the back upper level of Theed Palace to the right in the room with all the pillars. It's nice we can take duty missions from other privateer trainers.

Good system, I like certain tier4 duty missions myself. However doing the Rebel Destroy Black Sun mission has spoiled me (different toon), now the RSF one puts me to sleep.

I did the last two boxes at about an hour a piece at the Red Chimera(sp?) hyperspace point in Endor Space. Look for the black suns around the asteroids. Very slow rihk and ix spawns (the ships, notthespawns!)with good loot and credits too.
Hope this helps.
