Thread: Prestige Points idea # 2,878,992
What you get is what you get, no improving.
(option) Plus 750 FP per level (privateer/neutral would you run into trouble here?)
- Need another Reward Shield? Engine? The engine will cost you 30 million Prestige, the shield will cost you 40 million prestige.
1st_Viduus wrote:(also posted in the used-to-be-Focus Thread)There are a plethora of grand ideas in the community already, I've seen some of them and like them a lot. However, the more I think about this, the more it irks me that as an Imperial I can't get Imperial components. It seems to me that there is no reason that I can't exchange Imperial Prestige for Imperial Military Grade Components, which are equal in quality to those which are given as "Reward Items".Similar situation for both Privateers and Rebels; each faction is supposed to support it's pilots in some form, but truly they do not, after you've reached Ace.Structure it like so:2 million (faction) Prestige Points per Certification Level per standard component.- e.g.: Cert 1 Sienar Blaster = 2 mill :: Cert 8 Sienar Blaster = 16 mill.- These components would be on-par with current reward equipment, BUT would have no Reverse Engineering Level.
What you get is what you get, no improving.5 million (faction) Prestige Points per Certification Level per experimental component
(option) Plus 750 FP per level (privateer/neutral would you run into trouble here?)- These components would be on-par with current reward equipment, BUT would have a Reverse Engineering Level.

Frankly, it will encourage people to go into Deep Space and fight for their faction, grind out some PP & FP, and for those not comfortable in DS in other areas instead... but certainly get them flying."The prices are high"...? Perhaps. We don't want to minimize the importance of the parts, nor make them "Easy Money" for people by claiming tons of them and re-selling them. Ideally, all 3 ships in one's datapad could eventually be completely Faction-Fitted... that is what I'd like to see.Comments? Votes? Suggestions for tweaking?
Sounds great but the faction point stuff will cause a problem. If we privateers could grind out faction in Deep Space I would have no issue with the faction point idea. I love the idea of buying reward equipment with prestige points. That'd be great!
Prestige Points idea # 2,878,993
-Allow Privateers to pay a one time cost of xxxxxx amount of prestige to be able to grind faction in Deep Space. I assume there is a reason for the Devs not wanting them to grind faction in Deep Space so I'm sure a prestige point cost would even that out.
As a ground rebel, SA Pilot, I can't seem to get FPs in space.

i truely truely do not believe the devs intenally made it so that Faction Members on the ground flying as a neutral pilot could not gain FP while in DS. i say this because if they didn't want a Rebel Neutral pilot to gain FP in space he wouldn't A. Be able to go Overt In the first place, and B. have the option to go into DS at the rebel Station when Overt in the first place.
i think it was just the devs not thinking this all the way trough.

It's not the Emporer's fault, it's those dang whiney Skywalkers that screwed all this up. Anaykin = Whiney lil..... till Ep3, Luke whiney lil b.... well forever, then he turns his dad into a whiney lil B... again hence the Empire loses. Bah! Rebels didn't win by force or brilliance, they won because some whiney farmboy convinced his dad to turn back into a p...........!
Whoa!

I think the only problem I have with this idea is with the pilots that have master all the pilots profs.. ? The get increased xp and pp do they not? They would be able to blaze through grinding the pp in no time.. ?
Just a thought..
As a Three-Time-Ace/Master I can confirm that you do not get a bonus to Prestige after Ace/Master for previous Tier5's, so this would not be an issue.
Conversion of PP to FP: Grand Idea.
I gave up 91.4 million PP on my first ace-drop, and another 22.6 million on my second.
Would have loved to get some use out of them first....
Then again, why lose/convert them at all?
So you're grinding out your 2nd ace tree and need some 'uber' parts to ease your way through...? Go grab some parts from your previous liaison...
Long-Winded speech....:
Keeping the SW's in the loop:
Yes, well. When dealing with sub-components we come into several issues.
First, as a MSW, I can tell you that MOST of what we can craft is garbage compared to even a mid-level looted/non-RE'd part. Granted one or two stats might be better, and some parts actually are competitive, giving a bit to get a bit (boosters, shields come to mind) but still can't compare to a Reward Item.
Further, there is only ONE upgrade slot in our crafting of any sub-component. That means you'd have to sacrifice something to install your expensively-purchased subcomponent, rendering the end result useless if you change your ship configuration.
To keep SW's in the loop, as it were... hmm...
Fix Shipwright first, which is not an issue here but the shipwright forums.
Shipwright has 4 balanced components (overall): Reactors, Boosters, Armor, and Shields. Everything else we can craft is so far off the mark as to be a joke. Even then, the Reward Booster is more desireable overall, the reward Shields far superior, RE'd shields tend to come out better (with careful selection), and a lot of armor can be RE'd to fairly decent specs equal to or greater than what a shipwright can do. Our advantage here is recreation... we can duplicate any armor piece previously made, given we have the materials, so that you don't need to alter your ship setup to fit it, or waste mass allowance by going lighter than you have to when replacing it.
Balancing out the rest of our components would go a long way to making Shipwrights happy, and pilots as well.
At the time of this posting, a pilot who went out with only MSW-Crafted equipment would surely find the grind to Ace nearly impossible. That should not be so.
THEREFORE
In order to be able to "keep MSW in the loop" without completely reworking the profession...
Instead ofoffering only those 2 types of item, offer yet a third type, for the combined price (or more)of the two first:
Schematic + Subcomponent Schematic
This schematic, used with the associated subcomponent, and resources at 800 average in all required areas, meet the statistics of the Reward Items, with 15 experimentation points used to customize the stats where desired on both the subcomp and the comp; better resources would mean the possibility of reaching "ideal" statistics on certain areas, and "better than RE'd" on possibly up to half.
I also think SW should get something out of it, so having exceptional subcomps available for purchase wouldnt be a bad idea, either.
I think conversion of PP to FP is a bad idea, though, even at 1000:1...FP is ground game, really, and PP is space game, and besides the philosophical divide, itd still be way too easy to grind FP with PP, compared to ground grinding, and gain advantages on the ground like bases and perks. Grinding FP while overt is bad enough as it is
