Hi, Im in my Tie HV and Im running my reactor at 9966/14586

I run RO4 EO3 Everything is fine

I run RO4 EO4 and my ship shuts down making me redeedto get my stuff re enabled.(tried the emergency power to weapons trick.. didnt work)

my engines are crafted ones the drain is high but I have plenty of spare reactor power.

My alt runsa kraytsetup with looted engines and has reactor energy running at 13500(ish)/14500 (ish) and EO4 runs fine with RO4, in fact with looted engines as long as the total drain of the components does not exceed the reactor rate then I can run RO4 CO4 EO4 and WO3 with no probs

Using a crafted engine I have to strip everything down so I have in my ship - Engine, DI, Reactor and THATS IT. then and only then will EO4 run with a crafted engine. Oh there was one other time I got EO4 runnign on a crafted engine and that was with a reactor that had over 20k generation rate. In the Krayt E-thrust recovers a disabled ship from a reactor shutdown;

So can anybody tell me if this is a bug or is it designed this way to stop people running EO4 on crafted engines (to limit speed) and is there a way around?

Thanks

all overload 4 commnads do way too much damage to your ship, change it to Reactor overload three.

dont use any overload four chips or comnands, unless its Capacitor to sheild shunt four, as its not an overload commnad.

Overload 4 damage can be repaired without decay at stations by fixing 25%/25%/50%/100% or by taking a trip to deep space. The difference between overload 3's and 4's can save your butt in tough PvE missions or PvP.

EO4 increases drain by 1000% or 10x so a 1200 drain on an engine becomes 12000 drain. RO4 increases reactor power by 40%. Crafted engines get experimented on speed and YPR. RE'd engines get RE'd on every stat, including drain.

Yes, doctor doctor,it hurts when I do this.. well dont do that then.

I know how much damage those commands do to my equipment.. its about 90 points damage to the component armour (on my reactor thats out of 280 armour) which if I sit next to the space station and repair straight away, repairs with no decay. Or I can simply take a trip to deep space at the end of my session and repair for free with no decay. Ive been doing it for ages and my components last. Armed with this info you too can afford to run those lovely level 4's and they are indeed lovely (well EO4 is, RO4 is necessary to run EO4).

What I want to know is, why is there such a big difference between trying to EO4 a crafted engine as opposed to a looted one?

cheers for your insight tho.

Ok thanks washell I had no idea on the actual numbers for what EO4 was doing. I will do the math on my components and see if thats whats tipping me over the edge. the crafted engines are about 600 drain more than the looted ones.. I will see what I can do (either bigger reactor or skinny down on other stuff to make it run)

my main reactor is 14596 so it becomes 20434

my engine is 2285 so it becomes 22850 and bingo theres the problem

Sorted.. at least I know whats going on now thanks

R04 increases reactor energy by 90%. R03 by 60%. Details here: A Comprehensive Droid Routine Breakdown

You need 30531 energy for your current setup. Before R04 that is 30531/1.9=16068. A crafted Mark IV reactor with Mark IV overcharger will put out that much energy for around 20k mass. A shipwright with very good resources who knows what they are doing can produce that much energy for 17k mass.

If you want to be able to use a lighter Mark III reactor, you will have to reduce your energy consumption. Crafted shields and engines have high energy drains, changing both to REd will be a big improvement.

I stand corrected. Kinda annoying the first thing you read about it sticks and you tend to forget the amendments.

How did you arrive at 30531? I only gave my engine and reactor values.. however.. lets have a look

engine 2285 * 10 = 22850

shield 3091 = 25941 running total

Cap 821 = 26761

Booster 679 = 27441

DI 705 = 28146

weapon 2382 = 30528

THAT is freaky close.. how did you get that number without me spilling my entire setup?

[edit] oh and I left out the decimal fractions on the above so the result is probably even closer to your figure, now I am scared /me dons tinfoil helmet [/edit]

ok stupid me...

I stated my total drain and then the engine drain and the max reactor power.

DOH!!!! /me slaps forhead, hides tinfoil helmet.

Thankfully I just happen to be a Master SW with some nice resources at my disposal.. I shall experiment and see how much mass I can shave from my reactor..

my shields are crafted 1.9k front and back.. might even have loot reactor with enough power and low enough mass.. hmmmmmm. Thanks for your and washell's help

If you cannot build a Mark III reactor with enough energy, try building a Mark IV with Mark II overcharger. That will give you the energy you need for around 17k mass.
