I always loose cockpit pressure when I try to use my rifle. Besides they have really bad range.

I'm still waiting for the day that I see a Jedi whip out his glowbat for a Saber block while inside the tiny little cockpit of an X-wing. That'll depressurise things in a hurry.

the last time I tried to mount a rifle to my ship, the ground crew just laughed at me
