Thread: What if they fixed WO3 today?

What would be the biggest effect of a fix of WO3 on you? Ship loadouts? Choice of ships? Or maybe an adjustment of they way you fly or fight?

Or maybe it just wouldn't effect you at all?

I got to thinking about this after reading a post of the SW forum claiming an upsurge in sales of KSE Firesprays supposededly in anticipation of a fix to WO3 someday.

if you only get 4 or 5 shots out of your overloaded cap.... it is fixed

I don't think I would change anything... I have never been one to rely on "spray and pray" tactics in fact I have use WO4 with great success. the increased reactor drain will hurt a little on my Intercepter but all my other ships will be fine the way they are.

caues you would fire off about 6 shots and your cap would be drained. Thats how you will know its fixed.

For me personally in my smaller attack craft i probably wouldnt use it anymore in my larger ships they are already set up for its eventual fix

Well again thanks to Jotun, I have been preparing all my REs for the fix, so I would be perfectly fine. Except for my Krayt. That would be bad...

I don't *think* it would have much of an effect on the ship I choose or the gear I load (I'm already addicted to RE'd gear). As for style, the biggest effect would be the end of RO4/WO3/EO4/CO4 FCs and Astromechs (like mine).

I would expect a mass riot by some pilots, tempered by a great celebration by others (like me). It would hurt, but it would give some marginal credibility to the "plus and minus, give and take" of the whole Droid Program system.

I would like to think that I would be ready my heavy x-wing has a pair of Bortsels (awating RE quality loot) and a REed cap (I have soooo many caps...) with a recharge that out paces the bortsel's draw even un Overloded so using cap OL 3 and wepon OL 3 it should balance out nicely, that is to say unless I find some realy fast refire loot guns but I doubt it.

And my A-Wing? well it's an A-wing no Cap problems there...

I'd probably downgrade WO3 to WO2 on most of my ships, my Firespray might need an even bigger capacitor then the L6 or 8 sitting there nowwhich would require a smaller engine most likely to make the room, otherwise my ship loadouts will stay the same.

The problem with WO3 being "fixed" (and the existing problem with the other WOs) is that then the program would have THREE drawbacks. Every other overload program offers a *substantial* gain with minor setbacks. EO makes you go a lot faster, and turn substantially better, at the cost of a bit more reactor power and a few points of dmg. CO provides a huge increase in cap power (75% at CO3 I think...?) AND an increase in recharge at the low cost of a bit more reactor drain and a few points of dmg. RO is better still, with the only drawback being a few points of dmg.

WO (when working as intended) however costs you *more* reactor evergy, *substantially* more cap energy (unrealistically so IMO), and does dmg to your weapons. All that for a little increase in dmg output? Seems unfair to me... the improved dmg you'll be getting is negated by the time you have to *not* shoot while you wait for a recharge.

Not to mention that fixing WO3 will also be a huge nerf to CTSS as well, since your cap will likely be empty when you need it.

WO3 works incorrectly. The weapon overloads are supposed to increase damage, increase reactor drain, and increase capacitor drain. Weapon Overload 3 increases damage, but decreases reactor drain and decreases capacitor drain.

a little increase in damage output? how is 75% a little increase? the unfair part here is that people are allowed to use TIER ONE components on master level ships and see no noticable impact while using the bugged WO3. every single other program offers increasing rewards with increasing penalties. of course you think the effects of reactor drain are negligable with CO and EO programs. you're using WO3 along with it, giving yourself a negative drain on all your guns by half! all the other programs increase drain incrementally, just like weapon overload should. you can't compare EO3 with WO3 saying EO3 offers no drawbacks, the drawback is it's energy cost. WO3 has the exact same drawback only since you are doing nearly twice as much DAMAGE (argueably much more important than speed) it also costs capacitor energy as well. first of all it makes sense, second of all if this mechanic wasn't in place you would never need to use anything more than a tier one capacitor. if you never need to use more, what's the purpose of having different levels of components?
