Thread: Should I hold out before I RE this QID engine?

I have a 101.2 speed QID, and want to RE it. I have all the parts I would need to do it, but I can't seem to get the mass lower than 24,142 by my calculations of what it will be after RE. I also have not found any engines with a better pitch or yaw, but I did find one with a better roll. The pitch and yaw on my QID are 68.1. So should I wait, or just RE the darn thing? I have had it for 2 months now waiting for the right stuff.

Current stats on mine, and I'm still waiting (pre- and post-RE):

103.4 Speed - 108.5
73.2 Pitch - 76.9
73.5 Yaw - 77.2
72.6 Roll - 76.2
22897 Mass - 21752
1346 Drain

I'd wait, myself

Wait.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

Thanks. Any suggestions on what NPCs (that an imperial pilot can attack)have the highest drop rate for level 8 engines in your experience?

Might I ask what you're waiting on? Those stats are all already extremely high. You could literally farm forover a month an not get a level 8 that beats any of the stats you have listed above.

Ssshh, I don't need any more devils on my shoulder

I figure that I'm never going to get hold of another engine with that speed, or with that mass. So I'm being very careful Hoping for 77+ across the board, and preferably 78.

Its entirely possible that the 1.3 and 1.4 numbers are already rounded for the display. The game does this in tons of other spots already. For example, the true number on a specific engine might be say 1.27863897, but its being rounded for display purposes, and is thus shown as being 1.3. The point I'm making, is that if the number is being rounded for the display, than the difference between a 1.3 and a 1.4 engine could be very, very small. For example, an engine with 1.34999999 would display as 1.3, where as an engine with 1.35000000 would display as 1.4. The rounding gives the impression that theres a .1 difference between these two engines, when in truth the difference is only .00000001. Granted, that's an extreme case, but I don't see any point in waiting around for the several months it could take to potentially hit 1.4. I'd say he should RE that engine right away and start using it to PvP. The only way I'd wait is if I already had a back-up engine that I was happy with.

I'd still wait a bit on the YPR numbers on that one.

For level 8 engines, I'd just start hittign all the tier 3's and 4's you can. Try the duty mission from the Rori station. Tier 3 ships with tier 4 B-wing bosses. Some tier 3 Nova's in the mix so don't be surprised.

If it's anything like the way gun stats get rounded, then all those other digits are lost and you're left with the rounded stats period. My impressions are that once rounded thats it, there's nothing in between 1.3 and 1.4.

Well, I don't think there's any permanent rounding going on. The only time you see the 1.3 or 1.4 is when your engine is loaded into your ship, however when you take it back out, the engine's PYR stats will still be the same. Basically, your ship's PYR stats are being ran through some equation to get that 1.3. The question, though, is if that 1.3 is just for display purposes. There are several possible answers...

  1. The 1.3 is just for display purposes, and the game is still using your engine's listed PYR stats for its calculations.

  2. The game is using the 1.3 number to calculate your turning, however this number has been rounded on the display end, i.e., the true number for a specific engine might be 1.343872 but its still showing up as only 1.3.

  3. The game is converting all engines with a specific range of PYR stats to only one number, i.e., all engines that display 1.3 when loaded will perform identically, regardless of if they have different PYR stats or not.

Now, its possible that number 3 is how it works, but then that begs the question of why did the devs bother to put such a variety of possible PYR stats on engines if in the end everything is going to get rounded down to only a much, much smaller set of possible numbers?
