I have tried many many times with 2 others along to help and I just cannot kill this Tier 4 Gunboat and its escorts. I have a Tier 4 Rebel and he damn near solo'd his tier 3 stuff. Anyone else find BE to be really hard?

Reactor/engine/shield/weapon overload programs
Also, drop down behind it and a little below it. You'll find a sweet spot where it will be hard to target you. Be sure to have the weapon systems targeted.
Or, you can keep the shields targeted first and do hit and fade attacks.Booster can be your friend.

thanks for the tips. But Once I get within 8xx from it it just turns around and fires on me. How do you actually stay in that sweet spot?

You must be talking about that last gunboat at the end. I just solo'd that one. I used Reactor/Engine/Weapon/Capacitor Overload 2, Capacitor to Shield Shunt 2. I was 3-3-3-2 when I did it. I also flew the TIE Bomber for mass and weapon loadout.
When I got to the last group, I sicced Bomber Strike on the gunboat, and took out one gun at a time, using concussion missles to beat down the shields followed by guns as I flew past on booster, dumping capacitor energy to keep my shields up. Once the guns are down you're gold.
Saw you were on Chilastra not Chimaera or I would fly it with you. It's a fun mission.

Black Epsilon is really hard, that's what makes our squadron so danged cool!
This one gave me trouble at first too. Pull the guards away and kill them first, away from the gunboat. Call a bomber strike on it early - that way if it fails you won't have to wait for it to reset, plus they'll soften it a little.
I've done this mission twice successfully now. Once in a big heavy bomber, relying on ordinance and a friend to keep the other ships off of me. I stayed out as far as I could and used missiles. The other time I just made quick passes in to take it out. A tip when flying against turrets - as you're flying away after an attack run, twist and spin, makes you harder to hit.
You might try getting a friend to go in first and take some fire for you in a heavier ship.
Also, as someone else wisely posted, make sure you're running a good set of programs including shield shunt. And if you start an attack run and things don't seem perfect, don't feel afraid to back off.

I took this one in an Interceptor and actually forgot to use Bomberstrike. I just pulled strafing runs on the gunboat(s), boosting away in a corkscrew pattern as I disengaged to throw off its fire, then flew out of range to cap to shield shunt/recharge my shields before I turned around and repeated the process. This may have been the one where I was right up against the edge of the space zone, so I couldn't fly very far in one direction and kept getting pinned against the zone boundary.. man, was tier 3 of BE hard. A lot of fun, though.

Soloed it just using EO3 and WO3 in an intercepter. Cleaned out the escorts, called in a bomber strike, and then just strafed it over and over, leaving to let my shields regen if I took damage. Not the way I'd do it now, but effective. Gunboats aren't hard if you're paying attention, and smart enough to let your shields go back up to full or near full before you come in range again.

Just have to remember to hit and run. Come in fast..squeeze off shots and then spiral away.

Its hard. Its incredibly hard. Its so incredibly hard that my weapons systems were offline when I finished. Not impossible though. I did it with a single 4443 wingman in a Rhiryrrk(sp?) assualt ship. All I can say is load your droid up with WO3, EO3, CO3, and Cap to Shield 4. That way you have nearly if not completely unlimited capacitor energy, and thus have more than enough energy to keep your shields up. Also, its really hard to get decent armor and shields in an interceptor, but the bomber is too slow and unmaneuverable to be used, so your best bet is to bring some high end neutral wingmen for the gunboat, sic your bombers on it, and keep away

Also
Check you have the best ship you can have.
I was really struggling with tier 4 missions until I realised I was tooting around in a 120k mass ship, while everyone else had 190k vessels

I just helped a friend do that mission. First time Bstrike failed, so I started to strafe it in my TIE interceptor, but my friend was blown away on her strafe run. Second time BStrike 3 hit, then I strafed the gunboat, keeping its aggro on me while my friend started taking out the escorts with another friend. Cap to shield, booster and bstrike should be enough to take it out.

I was 3-3-2-3 pilot when I did this mission so I didn't have bomberstrike. I did have all the level 3 droid commands and cap to shield shunt 4. I used an Interceptor. I took the group in the asteroid field where they had trouble navigating. I killed the escorts from there and did strafe runs on the gunboat. The gunboat and its escorts seemed slower in the asteroid fields so that bought me time to shunt energy to my shield for each strafe run. Reading the other replies here, I should've trained in bomberstike. That would've made my life a little easier.
