Thread: Do you grind your pilot xp?

This is just a question I've been wondering for a while now.... how many of you actually grind out your experience for your pilot trees?

To some of you, this may seem like a stupid question but to me, it's quite the opposite. I've found more people just launch into space and search for stuff to kill than I can count. It frightens me.

Everyone here knows you can just run the story missions from your trainers to get free blocks, right? Am I the only one that's even remotely aware of this?

I just hit ace about a half hour ago, it only took me a few weeks. Was easy. I keep reading people in spatial and on these forums asking about grinding and where the best place to grind out tier etc is... It really is starting to scare me.

So yea. I'll leave it at that for now.

I ground all of tier 4 on the Black sun duty missions from Warvog.

All of my tier 4 XP (well, the majority) came from Kessel. Duty missions, for me, are not much fun.

Well while going for the coveted 9x pilot badges, I've had the 3x master pilot xp bonus for a while so I hardly have to grind at all to get boxes. Usually 10 minutes in Kessel will get me enough for a Tier 4 box. Even starting out, though, I had no problem getting XP. I would just do duty missions and had fun with them, especially the Tier 4 ones.

Yeh duty missions are heaps of fun, if you have the right setup. If you have poor equipment spending 20 minutes trying to kill the wave bosses can be a royal pain in the ass (this happened to me on starsider last night - tier1 ship fighting tier3 wave bosses on a tier 2 duty mission, took ages).

I wouldn't call those boxes exactly "free" from grinding. duty missions are there for you to gain enough xp to train... but you're still grinding duty missions. tier 3 is pretty much do the quest get the box, but tier 1, 2, and 4 people still have to "grind" to get the xp to train, then do the mission to advance. What I hate to see are new pilots that find the merc freighters in kash and kill those mindlessly instead of something with a bit of challenge.

So far most of the people responding this are CHOOSING to grind out the profession. I don't see too many nubs responding.

My whole point was, most of the people I encounter in game are choosing to grind based on a lack of information. They choose to grind out the profession because they don't know there are other ways. Easier ways and yes, I do consider the story missions to be easier. It took me half a day to get to tier 4 just by running missions. From tier 4 it was a minor grind and yea, I had to run 2 duty destroy missions but other than that, it was easy.

At first I did the grind thing because that's how I thought you advaced. After a while I realized that didn't matter and only did the "grind" for parts.

Duty missions aren't exactly part of the story, right? I would do the duty missions for my grinding, and found with a decent loadout they came very easily. But, there was still grinding for part of it.

I barely even touched the Duty missions, I think I did 4-5 in all of teir 4. I mostly helped people do their missions.

It was much more fulfilling right when JTL came out, cause everyone was trying toAce as fast as possible. When we needed4-5tier 3 pilots to complete a single tier 3 missions, when 2 people would land one to train, andone to grab their next mission.

Now a days it just not the same (mostly cause I am Ace) butI still help people out, but if another Ace joins me while helping it seems like its overkill, but I still do it.
