Thread: The Fork cometh June 02.

Yup, come june 02, stick the fork in me, cause i'll be done. Ive decided im gonna give this game a 3 month break or so. I've learned along time ago to say im not coming back, because i usually end up doing just that.

So, no, you can't have my stuff.

At the end of the 3 months ill probaly come back in and see how's thigns doing. Depending on what i see or not, i may really end up giving my stuff away at that time.

I had this long drawn on speil in mind, but instead i think ill just get to the point.

I'm leaving because im BORED. JTL is the ONLY reason i ever subscribed to SWG in the first place, and frankly, ive become bored with it. TIme to find new diversions.

But, what were really lacking here is:

POST ACE CONTENT.

As an ace, all i do is:

1.) Farm. Parts, cash, or FP.
2.) PvP.
3.) Help the occasial rookie.

You can really boil that down to teir 4 duty missions, and an occasioanl jaunt to kessel and Deesppace.

Gets kinda old.

Reasonable suggestions of what i'd like to see:

1.) More capital ship encounters.
2.) GCW in space. It needs to be there, and it needs to have some signficance.

I had a bigger list, but it just left my thoughts, but these are my top two.

Concerns for the future:

1.) ROTW ship balancing (you knew that was coming)

2.) Balance of power between Rebel and Imperial navy composition. (In particualr id like to see that 3rd xwing gun into a missle launcher so the rebels have a poor mans oppressor.)

3.) Balance of post ace content between Imperial and Rebel pilots. Imperial pilot really gets the short end of the stick in this reguard.
- No faction farm teir 4 mission like the rebels have.
- No Black sun teir 4 mission.
- Factional farming opporunties grealy favor the rebels in many areas of the galaxy. Tier 4 spawns are in alot more places for rebels than imperials. Imperisl have like, the stationary frigite outside of endor station, kessel, and DS, thats it. Rebels have far more.

4.) POB ships need a reason to exist, they need to be alot harder to kill. Should be like a WWII b17 flying fortress and they arent.

5.) Netcode. I beleive we're going to fast and the netcode is having issues, or will have issues if its not already. I hate to say it, but they need to slow our arses down.

6.) Misc exploits that i shall not name or describe REALLY need to be fixed, and they needed to be fixed months ago. WTG SONY!

7.) I know damn well some type of space CU will be coming eventually. I hope that it only extends to fixing WO3 (STILL!!!!!!), and a look at droid commands ONLY, and nothing else. That i beleive, is the root of all unbalances. I dont think they should be a system of buffs that incur decay, but a system of Plus's and minuses in performance. Doing one buffs something, but negativly effects soemthing else. There should be a trade off, and system resources in a ship should be finite.

Looking at what ive accomplished...

Played a little of the JTL beta, and have played it since launch.

Mastered all squadrons except vortex and Storm. I hate escort missions with a passion.
Mastered Shipwright, because i reached a point where i was micromanaging my ships over 500 mass.

Ive learned alot about ships, ship parts, everything associated with JTL. Every day i cruise this broad looking for something new to learn. I have done my best to learn something new every chance i get. I wanted to know it all. I am probably a fountain of knowlege, and am probably one of the better pilots on my server - or so ive been told repeatidly. But i know better than to beleive it.

But i degress, im bored.

My new diversions:
Silient hunter 3 (im an old sub sim fan)
Boiling point (check it out on gamespot, this looks FUN)

I'll be prowling the boards tell June2nd, after which i wont be posting here for awhile.

So there's the standard post ppl make when they're about to quit.. *shrug* why break MMO tradition eh? lol.

It's better than Aces of the Deep!

Fully 3d interior of sub, just for starters.

Boiling point sounds cool too. Massive persistant world (25 real square KM i think i read), storyline is kind of a rip from "man on fire i think" (ex military dude looking for his daughter). Blend of RPG and FPS. Can work for CIA, druglords, local goverment etc. promises to be a real breathing world and high replayablity. Hope it lives up to the hype.

Both games i think are great alternatives to an MMO

IMO, JTL should be renamed to TNMF, short for "The Newbie Money Factory."

That's why were getting so much "attention."

When you come back, you could always consider making an Ahazi Rebel... /evilgrin... I need some post-master content myself lol

Fact of the matter is, the only thing keeping me here (as per the sig) is the community. JtL is unbalanced, broken since CU hit TCs, and quite frankly lacking in content.

The CU... makes ground combat physically painful for me. The old system was what kept me playing, it was something I could do, with my 3 bone grafts and reconstructed left hand. CU - you nearly need 3 hands to do anything effectively.
Crafting is boring and MSW in particular is STILL way out of balance.
Entertainer profs... well. At least I get to chat with people. Timesink indeed. Near $20/mo for a chat client lol. But, what friends didn't leave with CU are indeed worth sticking around for.

Hope to see you again m8.

Leave the third gun alone. It is properly balanced in itself. The rebs get the third gun but we pay dealy for it with less maneuverability. That third gun is the solution to a nastily wide shot spread....like throwinga hot dog down the hallway. If the game was exactly like the movie, the agressor, the opressor, the decimator, the nova, and all the hutt and black sun ships for privateers wouldn't exist. The point is that some aspects had to be tweaked to keep uniqueness between factions. Keep the gun; we want an X-wing, not a poor man's opressor.

Don't get me wrong, there are many valid points. This game does need much more master content with master level payoff. We need more ships to pilot, especially capital class. We NEED the GCW in space.

Sorry to hear it, Ducimus. I've always liked what you've brought to this forum. I like a strong opinion now and then, personally, so long as it's tempered with some hard streaks of knowledge.

I really hope the game's got some more of what you're looking for when you return and I do think integrating the GCW with space is one of our biggest long-term issues. In fact, the PVP Decay thread hasn't been developing much lately, so I think it may be time to start up a new focus thread on that very subject.

Can I have yo-... damn.

And don't go telling the Devs to take away my precious 3rd X-wing gun . Maybe turn the 3 gun X-wing into some kind of varient without missile launchers and give it a name such as X-wing v2 or something as original, and add proper X-wings (2 guns, 2 missiles).

Anyway, you'll be back. They all come crawling back.

Ya don't need me to do that Leaph. you got plenty of experiened people, you just need to get them motivated. Thats the feeling i was getting from the guild last week or so. Shear lack of motivation. I figure the one or two people i noticed that were on were just sort of doing their own thing. Much like i was.

I think what you need is something, some activity, in which to motivate ppl to working together for a common goal. Until that time, i dont see the guild taking off much. THe trick is finding that common goal to get ppl to rally around. Acutally, thats the hard part. What is there to do?

Mining is less then exciting honestly, but im sure theres a way to work that in there to make it fun. Large ship action maybe. POB.s Appraenly nova's need to have someone in the driver seat for the gunner to mine, just FYI.

PvP is usually a given. POB ship runs in general might do something, i dunno. User created content is the key phrase here - and thats what im out of gas on ironically enough. But like it or not, i think your going to have to be less selective in your membership choices. New people are content in and of themselves. As much as running mission help all the time is something of a pain, it IS content in and of itself. Admit it, you love smoking the vette like a cheap cigar and imperssing the newbies as much as anyone just food for thought.
