Come on then, which other tragic people out there have gotten so carried away they named their astromechs?

I have an R2 called Twitch

Hi, my name's Yanus, and I name my Astromechs. I've been naming my astromechs for around 12 months now, and I'm having real difficulty stopping. I feel I have taken the first step in accepting that I have a problem that can be cured.

they're all named after muppets.

Gonzo, Beaker, Bunsen, Statler and Waldorf My med droid was called Tweakey

I could never work out how to name a droid. If I did though, I'd use these two names.

1. Trashcan

2. Bob

I like the first one best.

You have to use the Train radial option. Retrain four commands with a name in front of it.

Bob follow

Bob attack

Bob stay

Bob release

The name happens automatically, any four commands will do.

Time to spread the disease Taken from the DE FAQ with some additions...

In order to program your droid, first open the droid's radial menu and choose the command that you wish to program. The only difference is that you will add the name of the droid at the beginning of each command along with a space in between the name and the command that you wish to program. You will need to program 4 different commands, each time using the same name, spelled the exact same way.

So for Follow command, you might type in: Trashcan f.

Repeat for 4 different commands and you'll name your droid. Incidentally, you can reprogram commands after they've been named to just to just the shortened commands (like f.) without them losing their name.

A droid name can only consist of characters that are usable in Character name generation. ( IE A through Z - ' ) At this time, numbers and other characters can not be included in the name of your droid. Key words such as Jedi, Rebel, and Medic aren't allowed by the name filter, along with a list of other words that cannot be used during character generation. A name can be 28 letters in length, with a 1 letter long command. If done correctly, on the fourth command the droid will respond with (DroidsNameHere) ? in both Spatial and above its head.

It is suggested that you reprogram the commands used while naming the droid so that you don't have to type out the full command, name included.

Same technique you would use to name Creature pets as a CH.
