I became a 3322 imp pilot a few days ago. I was so happy that i would be able to fly 2 ships from the same teirs so i got a Bomber and Interceptor then genorated them when i certed. I was astounded by the bomber's 100+K mass and wanted to use it as my miner. And the interceptor's manuverablity and wanted it as my fighter.

Now here is my problem. All my equipment from my TIE/IN fit on my interceptor, but after a while the guns, armor, and sheilds started to become less effective. But i barely had enough mass left to put a pack of 5 novice shipwrite missels on them. So i figure "HM! I guess i could use the bomber as a dule purpose ship and i was thrilled that everything could fit and i could carry a kryat dragon with me if i wanted to. This is great!"

WRONG

This thing turns about as fast as a parlyzed hut in a cattel chute. Any one want to give me an idea about what to do?

Its a common choice you'll have to make, power or manueverability. A lighter, less heavily equipped ship that can turn on a dime, or a heavier uber death monster that flys like a brick. Only you can decide which one you'd rather fly.

As for edit, you have to get up to a certain forum ranking before you get the edit feature, probably just wait a month or so.

Thanks, Any one want to give me suggestions? I'm leaning toward the interceptor because i could at least destroy an enemy before his friends killed me, where as the bomber keeps me alive for 30 more seconds but i literaly can't hit anything but dark matter.

Can't advise on the specific imperial ships, being a freelance myself, but I personally prefer manuverability over mass. I'd take my dunelizard over a Rix-whatszit any day of the week

When setting up your ship, it really comes down to speed and firepower for a figher. Speed to manuever and get the drop on your enemy. Firepower to take them out fast.

To do this on a ship with limited mass, you will have to sacrifice or juggle your components. What I did was put in the best engine/blasters/capacitor/shields I could find. The rest was whatever I could fit in with the leftover mass. I had to drop my armor down to Mark II's just to get some protection. You may have to live with no booster/missiles/countermeasures.

I did the above with my JSF and I love it.

You will have to do this to each of your ships to tailor what their purpose is for your needs.

Use Engine overload 3 to boost your YPR and speed. That should help with manouvering quite a bit. It will never be an Interceptor though.

*choke*

This replaces "My ship turns like a dying huf dun" as my new all-time favorite handling analogy in a long and glorious list. For some reason, brick-like turning ability inspires awesome writing.

As far as advice goes, a lot of this decision is based on your preference as a pilot. If you like the Interceptor's handling that much, though, I'd give it a shot and try to make it work.

The key to this ship is to know its strengths and its limits. It's extremely fast, but it's also got light firepower and probably not much in the way of armor. The way to maximize the former while minimizing the latter is to not try to tank heavy targets. This ship will be excellent for dogfighting, but when you're going up against Novas and gunboats and the like, you're going to want to be patient and pull strafing runs on them: line up your target, approach at high speed in a straight line, then once you've gone past it hit the boosters and, ideally, start turning your ship in a slight corkscrew pattern until you're out of range. Hang around out of range until you've shunted or recharged your shields, then repeat the process until the target is eliminated.

This will take some time, particularly on gunboats, but the time you spend giving a gunboat the death of a thousand cuts is probably a lot less than you'd spend repeating the mission a few times.

On the mass front, you can fit everything you need into this ship. Just make sure you've got a level 7 gun, a level 7 shield with the mass experimented down, and either a level 6 or 7 engine. Don't worry about a missile launcher or anything besides the essentials: a level 1 reactor, level 2 capacitor, and level 1 droid interface. If you've got any mass left, add a booster, then a couple plates of armor, all at level 1.

A loadout like that may seem crazy at first, but once you've gotten used to the particulars of the Interceptor, it should be more than enough to let you hold your own on these next missions.

Should i choose the faster or moreagile weapon?

Definitely more agile in my opinion. Combat is never done at incredibly high speeds. In that paralyzed hutt, you are going to want to be able to whip it around faster. You are never going to catch up to any of the fast ships anyways.

Also take your throttle on the Bomber back to about half. YOu'll notice you can turn much faster compared to full throttle.
