Slightly more mass cap...and that is about it. It looks the same and flies the same as far as i could tell...but as any Imp pilot can tell you the added mass although not much is very very welcome.

it's a really nice lil ship
just a heavier tie fighter, really. if you can, skip straight from the tie light duty to the tie/in, as the tie basic doesn't really have enough of a mass increase to justify the money it will cost you.
it's not a tie interceptor at all, thats called a tie interceptor. tie/in = tie fighter

If you're looking for the name behind the abbreviation, it's a TIE Interceptor.
TIE/IN and TEI Interceptor are two very different vessels.

Oops! My apologies. I'm not an Imperial so I never looked at the ship names.

A Light TIE has 12K mass. A TIE Fighter has 20K mass. A TIE/In has 40K mass. So while that 20K increase from standard TIE to In is, on an absolute scale, not that much, on a relative scale, it's a 100% gain and definitely worth picking up. Heck, the way chassis are priced, I think the standard TIE's more than worth it as well.

Tie/In's Black too. Looks cool. Don't get hung up on it though, the Interceptor's much cooler!

Actually I heard that this is a "typo". The TIE/ln is actually lowercase for "LN" (for TIE 'Line' - or main line TIE fighter) . It just looks like a capitol 'I' and was mistyped into the game, thus causing all the confusion.

Just for the record:
The TIEs, as listed, are:
TIE Fighter
TIE/D Fighter
TIE/fc Fighter
TIE/gt Fighter
TIE/r c Vanguard
TIE Bomber
TIE Avenger
TIE Defender
TIE Shuttle
TIE Advanced x1 Starfighter
The TIE/D is listed as a TIE Droid Fighter, which "...Sienar Fleet System used the standard TIE/ln as a starting point..."
Therefore the TIE/In is, for all intents and purposes, a basic TIE fighter.
(More appropriately, the TIE Fighter is the abbreviated name for TIE/In).
