i have been using the Kihraxz since 2111 however now while getting into the tier 4 and it struggled through T3 should i work on some nice RE jobs or would i be better off using the Ixiyen and getting the quest ship? i just love the raw speed and handling of the Kihraxz but the 40k mass does feel limiting atm, hoping when i master SW though i can RE some guns that will make up for it. its honestly just DPS of the ship that feels limiting, ive been doing pretty good with only 1200 shields by keeping the hammer down and not letting the enemy catch me.

get the kimo, and load that baby with 3 lvl 7 weapons(2.4k damage each), i got some really nice looted comps so my mass has teh room for it , and still have a 62 speed engine. Thats is of course if you killing teir 4s.

I normally use a Dunelizard for freelance from 1111 to master.

I used the Kihraxz up till my exit mission for Tier 4, and whilst the mass might seem something of a limitation the right parts will make this a force to be reckoned with in PvE.

I must admit though that i have a fairly large selection of RE parts and a very good master shipwright on hand to make me parts to order. as a starting point as far as parts go i would recomend the following

RE level 6 engine

RE level 7 Blaster

Crafted MK III shields

If you can get these parts you will find that for Tier 4 your ship has adequate protection, a very punchy gun and the speed and agility to get out of a tight spot. as a freelance you might find getting an RE level 7 blaster to be something of a problem, as the best ones to RE are the 'boltdriver' (an imperial reward) and the Ionic Pulse weapon (again i got this as a reward when doing the IG Interceptor missions). in place of this you could easily use a crafted level 7 blaster or an RE level 6 blaster, whilst not as effective as the level 7 RE blaster the lavel 6 can have outstanding damage (mine is 1600-2650 damage) and higher vs than a level 7 but lower refire.

the rest of your components could include aMK III protonlauncher, i managed to fit one of these in mine and your selection of low mass level 1 crafted parts.

Droid commands will help a reat deal and when you have access to the Level 4 flight computer you will be able to install a very good selection of programs, RO3 EO3 WO3 CO3 and CTSS4. you will find though that having to install the lowest mass DI you can find will mean that your ship has a very long 'warm up' time as you activate them all

i would suggest a different ship for the Tier 4 exit mission, I'm currently Doing RSF and decided to Fly a Vaksai for this, even with a wingman i found the presence of 2 Tier 4 gunboats to be slightly disconcerting, I survived with minor paint damage whilst my JSF flying friend got slightly clobbered.

I used the kihraxz all the way up to the mission before the corvette. Its a great ship.

I later found its higher mass twin the Vaksai and well you can't beat that..

Any single gun that you could fit on a 40k mass ship will never be good enough for extensive grinding of tier4 mobs. I suppose it is "possible" but it's also making your life a lot harder than it needs to be.

It's possible--I used the TIE Interceptor from Tier 3 to master three time with only 50k mass, and I was running only a half-REed loadout. It's sure not the most efficient way to do it, but it should be possible.

I used my Dunelizard up to my last Tier 3 mission.

I miss it...

*whisper* if you dont have 3 guns on your kimogila, you're defeating the purpose of having one....

Talk to any more experienced pilots/shipwrights you know, or post the loadout you're using for the Kimo. There is a way to improve things if you find you can't fit 3 guns on at the moment.

as for the guns, as stated earlier im leveling shipwright atm so my basic plans are to carefully horde some guns to Reverse Engineer as well as other parts to RE of course as most of the stuff on here is crafted atm and not looted.

im debating on if its worth working the 63YPR and 72 speed engine in or if im better off with the faster one as the difference between 58 and 63 didnt seem that great in PvE.

Good, but still heavy-ish do a power calculation and see if you can get away with a crafted L1 or L3 (look for good L1 and 3 for an RE in the future)

Engine:
This should be replaced by RE'ing your L6 reward engine ASAP. It's easy to find filler L6 engines for sale on most servers, and if you hunt enough you can get some real gems. start terminal diving. You will get enough mass for the better engine by following some of my other suggestions.

Shield:
This needs to become a MKIV crafted shield ASAP. You're a bulky kimo, and you need all the shield hp you can get. Good crafted have near 2k f/b

Capicator:
Again, terminal dive and get L4 or L6 caps posthaste. this will be your biggest improvement.

Front/Rear Armor:

Nice pieces, be sure to put your armor in last, after everything else, and since you're SW, craft something to fit your remaining mass (in PvE I find having the heavier armor on the rear works best, but that may be my flystyle)

Booster:
Good 'nuff. maybe someone who knows more about them can comment better. I often use REd L4 reward boosters. Heavier but very nice in PvE.

DI:
you can shave some mass here. If you become a truly dedicated terminal diver, you might find a per-fix DI that would be ideal, but I wager you can craft something a little lighter for yourself and not lose much speed.

Weapons

Crafted guns are a good baseline. I recommend hunting for L6 guns (looted or bought) for RE purposes. They tend to be easier to scope out, since less of the hardcore buyers use them, but they are probably the most efficient mass/effectiveness weaponry ingame, and will serve you well in that ship. You don't even need "great" numbers for your initial REs. The guns are common enough that you could pretty easily get 3 of them made up, and they would be better than the crafted you have now. Lower mass, equal or higher dmg, and much higher eff ratings. The perfect PvE gun for getting to master.

I switched to my ETA as soon as i hit teir 4. I loved the kihraxz but anyone can learn to love its hotter older sister, the vakasai.
