Thread: Energy Lance feedback needed
Message Edited by Gunman21 on 01-27-2004 01:43 PM
The two items that seem to definitely be borked are the negative ranged mods (we were supposed to see positive mods on new polearms, right?) and the very high mind usage.
The secondary issue seems to be that at AP0, this weapon is simply not that useful (although if it had high enough ranged mods maybe it would be anyway?).
Right?
StGabe.
needs at least light armor piercing.
maybe even remove the DoTs to do the following:
Make it a quest item, with a permenant schematic instead of a temporary one, this will give us the new weapon we want with out new art and stuff being needed. Just make sure the stats are in line with a good weapon, we need one with high dmg and good accuracy and less HAM costs, these fixes are our main complaints so why not do this in one stroke on the NS Energy Lance.
right now the damage is too low, no piercing, speed is okay
the DoTs I would gladly give up for a quest schematic thats permenant. the weapon looks so cool!
Good: The model is very nice, the flashes on impact are sweet and the electricity particle effect is awesome. It's nice to have an energy damage alternative if needed, and the double disease DoTs are cool.
Bad:
1) The electricity particle effect isn't often seen by other players. The owner only sees it for 15 seconds or so when moving around after logging or shuttle travel. oftentimes otehr players don't see this. I have had instances where I simply reequipped it and moved a little, I saw no electricity, but someone next to me did. I have no idea when other players see the particle effect.
2) The disease DoTs, being 40 strength and 1200s duration, are only really useful if you lose your fight, if your target survives or gets away. While nice, I can't say it has been anything useful.
3) The lack of armor piercing completely limits the weapons usefulness. The only time it would ever be useful is if you found something that was 100% (or high) kinetic and electricity resistant, but vulnerable to energy. I have yet to find something like this. The damage and speed capabilities are ok, it's the lack of armor piercing that makes it all for show.
Right now, it's cool to carry and that's about it. I can't say I would actually use it if it did have armor piercing because it is rare enough that I would think twice before damaging it...but if I got another, and it had armor piercing, I'd probably be using it in the right circumstances. Someone mentioned range mods, I thought they were nice compared to what we're used to.

Im not impressed at all with this weapon. Low damage, no armor piercing, slow speed, easily defendable damage type, and poor range mods make this basically a "fluff" weapon to keep us interested until they decide to really fix our proffesion as a whole. Electricy sparkling from a weapon is about as useless as theDOTs which are sometimes usefull but a disease is more of a griefing to tool in PvP than anything else. Its sole purpose is to hinder your opponet after the fight but not during which basically makes it useless in combat.
Having cleared the NS caves with my guild more times than i can remeber i would say there is something wrong with the way the schematic is dropping. I havent heard or seen anyone on the Sunrunner Galaxy who has seen this rare loot drop or any of its components. Of course i could be wrong, but Axvia Min has seen me so many times in that cave we could sit back like two ole' drunk sailors in the local AMVETS and talk for hours about our war stories.

What needs to be improved on it
and is it dropping correctly? (I know a few people who have killed the nightsister who drops it and haven't gotten it)
Improve the damage on the thing, and do something about the accuracy + visuals to others
It drops rarely, which is goood ![]()
Sry I can't help you on this as I have never used one or even seen one being used..Im still looking to get my hands on one : )

i would think that it being the most rare pikeman weapon, and it being craftable by players, that it in some respects should be the best polearm, not best for every situation, but should have a use that it owns in.
also the particle effect is cool. I havn't seen it yet; i wan't to. so don't get rid of it.
now all i have to do is get to her before the french.......yes, the whole country.
