Thread: Hmm...TH on KD in the upcoming Combat Passes

You guys probably already saw this, but Thunderheart recently spoke a little about some things being discussed regarding the combat passes, this time specifically about KD that would affect us:



Question:
4. Are carbineer specials getting fixed? WIll Chargeshot2 finally work and kd an area of people.
Response:
Carbineer specials are getting fixed as part of the combat balance. I dont know about Area KD's though. Its going to depend on how the PvP balance is going to shake out.

Question:
5. And my last question, how come fencers have dizzy moves but no knockdown moves? That is odd if you ask me... Might it be possible to give them a kd move.
Response:
Because knockdown, while a very cool move in theory is very exploitable. In rapid succession, its used to pin players down and create many situations where players can't get back up. The devs are working on a compromise to keep KDs in, but not in a way where it can be exploited so badly.



I'm not sure exactly what this is implying, but I think our area KD is safe since it is a circular area attack and we have to be right in the middle of the group to use it, unlike a potential ranged area KD where the attacker can stay at a safe distance. I don't know how they're thinking of changing KD...Anyone have any thoughts?

IMO the knock downs should stay as is. If you got a group that has the timing down to successfully pin a player for consecutive rounds, good for that group.



And so I say let them eat Thakitillo, and rejoice.

My guess is we will see a new type of knockdown where players won't be subject for exploits as they are/used to be. An idea would probably be that they're going to change how the move works, to say you're left down on ground for one round then gets up the next(kinda like kneeling posture change works now). That way the person performing the knock down gets one chance to perform an action with the KD damage plus penalties. ...anyway, just my thought...
