i wouldnt suggest using a macro with pike. we miss so much that 95% of the time moves in your macro will have the opposite affect of helping you due to the bugs in KD / Posture change effects, not having a dizzy on an enemy due to misses ect ect.

stick with planning your moves one by one, it may take 8 tries or more to get a dizzy or a KD on an opponent even if you ( by grace of god or act of congress) hit them.

I have a problem with "I NEED to master it quickly." Everyone WANTS to master everything as quickly as they can. You're better off saying that you'd like suggestions on how to be best a pikeman. I personally am NOT a jedi chaser. I'm a pike because I chose to be and I highly enjoy it! Don't know why evreyone wants to be become jedi anyway. The best part about this game are all the professions and how they all tie to each other. Everyone is chasing a profession that has NO freedom of choice. All dark jedis will be alike and all light jedis will be alike. BORING!!! They need to come out with jedi professions! (Sorry ... a little off topic ranting there)

I'll tell you now ... this profession isn't very quick until you at least get past Novice Pikeman and a few boxes into that... then it picks up and goes fairly fast at the end.

As above mentioned Macroing doesn't work for the right reasons. We hardly hit and without buffs your HAM bar will drop very reapidly if you over use your specials for they cost much. Here are some suggestions:

1) Keep things small but plenty. This is NOT the profession to go and find the biggest thing to fight and kill it and get 2-5k exp for it. Pike is too slow. Stay with the crappy stuff outside of cities until at least Polearm IV. Then, you're better off finding the 300-700exp creatures that can be killed rather easily but spawn hundreds per lair. Examples --> Random (non-mission) lairs of: Mites on Rori, Flit or Perkets on Lok, Ikopi on Naboo are just examples.The mites on Rori are the best I found. Spawn like 20+ per lair!

2)Hopefully you have a lot of combat exp stored up from other combat professions. If so, try to achive 4/1/1/4 first. This will give you speed and Accuracy you need for the LONG AXE (weapon powerups for speed and a slice for speed if possible). Once you have that... you'll hit faster and more often then you'll be dropping things EASY! This is when you go to Dantoonie and take on Pikets, or Gurks on Lok for 3-5k a drop!

3) Get Stat enhanced often, frequently and all the time! The HAM costs are insane and buffs take that away. I got lucky that my first account is a Master Docter/Master Combat Medic. I can buff my pikeman at will. THAT is the difference between a slow advancement in this profession and a quicker one.

4) A good tanking pet + Novice Medic skillsarea plus! Don't think that pets take away from exp. It's minimal what they take away! USE THEM! Better that the pet takes a little away than you sitting there incapped or mind damaged and have to waste 5 min waiting for your mind to heal where you could be using those 5 min to fight some more.

I'm master and have been for awhile and when buffed I can solo a group of three or four rancors with the combo of Sweep 2 and AreaHit 2. I have been told that I steal exp away from people like Jedis do! We do almost the same amount of damage with polearmhit3 just a tad slower! It's a powerful profession if you take the TIME to do it.

Again... don't go around saying you NEED to master something quickly. We're all after that. You will also have no satifaction afterwards if oyu just grind crap. Enjoy the game. Both the good stuff and its flaws. You are paying for it.

I must respectfully disagree with a couple of Shadowlightning comments:

Once you are novice pikeman.... dont kill pikits go for quenkers/savage quenkers at 3 or 4k a kill, they drop about 4x as fast for me.

Dont bother with a pet... with good armor, buffs, mind food and a muon for emergencies they just slow you down. I never see any damage to my health and action as it regens too quick, just watch your mind drop from all the HAM costs and be ready with the food and muon if needed.

With the above I am completing a pair of savage quenker missions for 50k xp every15 minutes (from leaving the mission terminal to being back at he terminal with my next two missions picked and my downer gone if needed)

I do have a macro but its a start combat macro, that is centerofbeing, intimidate, warcry, knockdown, polearmhit2 etc, if I am aggrod by more than 1 creature I put this on the first one, clear after the knockdown sticks and spam area attacks, start simple with your macro, see what works, change it as you get new attacks.

1. I would disagree with this. crappy stuff for the first 2 bars is good and goes fast, after that try rogue banthas on tat. About 1K each and not too hard to kill. The same for juntland eopie, and desert eopie if you can find tham. After you get novice, normal bantha, dewbacks, and ronto. All give good xp and will get you through the first few bars quickly. After that think about going to one of the harder planets.

2. I've only used Doc's buffs a few times. I prefer food or spice and don't even use those that often. Just don't spam specials and you'll be fine. The LVA does around 300-500 dammage by its self so a few well placed specials in the beginning are just as good as spaming with another class.

4. Pets are nice but unless you have a lot of CH any pet you get will die quick. If you get a pet i would hold it back and only send it in if you have to run and let it cover your retreat. Medic skills are a must eithor get them your self or always go out with a medic friend.

As for macro's they are fairly worthless, I generally start fights with stun (this will increase your chance to hit), spin(to dizzy), sweep, then hit 3 (2, or 1 what ever you have). the problem with macroing these is you are very likly to miss. So you may have to apply the stun a few times for it to stick, also you may need to stop and heal your self after 3 specials, due to ham costs.

The pikes do a lot of dammage, not as much as 2 handed, but enough so you will be able to hunt larger game fairly quickly.

1. Be sure to kneel. It improves your accuracy.

2. Don't forget about /autotrain (it's a pikeman only special)

hia matey, how far are you on your way to Jedi? If you have just started then I would sugegst giving up the holocron race as that is going to be a part of the past soon. However, are you good on your way and around completeing it, then I'd sugegst checking out our FAQ and Tips&Tricks threads for some pointers

I used an advanced lance and this macro with a pet set on guard to go from novice brawler to 2112 Pikeman with afk macroing

/loot all; pickharv;

/ui action targetSelf;

/ui action cycleTargetOutward;

/polearmlunge1;

/pause 5;

/ui action toolbarSlotXX;

/alias pickharv /harvest meat

Notes: you start with a harvest line for loot and or hides/meat bone. I call the alias pickharv so I can realias pickharvest and switch to say hides or bone. Macro begins by targetting yourself, then cycling the target outward. I am not at home so I cant check exact wording of these 2 commands. I then do the polearm lunge you age at brawler, pause 5s, then have the macro punch itself (its on slot XX).

You set your pet to defend. You use polearm lunge because of the range. I have used taunt on mites, and the mites are taunted all right, but they dont close. Set the pause to whatever recovery you need...if you lunge too much, you will kill yourself. I have 800/500/500/700/550/550/600/600/600 for stats and I can go all night with that. I had to go up from the worts and trash that surround cities at around brawler polearm 3, and I used mound mites beyond that. Now mound mites are crapping out. I had to use a pet because as a lowbie pikeman your hit rate stinks, and it can take many rounds to kill something, so a respawn can mean you are fighting several at once. When that happens, usually the pet on defend is the difference between living and dying.

I tried putting a /sit and /stand loop in, but that just walks me out of the spawn zone. I for a while was pulling them with pistol and bleed, but went to lunge later as I had to junk marksman for training points.

I was thinking about trying this with say desert demons, but those humanoids have a routine where they will stand off and fire at you if you use a melee weapon, and close and brawl if you use a ranged weapon. Perhaps a pet might work for that, but I doubt it.

As far as combat goes when I am at the keyboard, I use this as my main macro:

/polekill;

/pause 2;

/ui action toolbarSlotxx;

/alias polekill /polearmLegHit2

This is simple as pie. The macro is on slot XX. It executes the alias polekill, which i can change depending upon mood to be any of hte pike specials. It puts one in the buffer, waits 2s, then puts another.

I have a compliment macro,

/loot all;

/pickharv;

/dump;

/peace;

Which when I hit this, it stops the main macro, harvests whatever I set up on my harvest alias, loots all items, then peaces.

I also have

/unarmedcenterofbeing;

/pause 17;

/ui action toolbarSlotXX;

This just punches centerofbeing. Novice pikeman gets it for about 17s by my calc, so when I train defenses 1 tonight, Ill need to up it by a couple of s. You need pretty good mind to run this.

Typically on kill tasks, I send the pet in and attack the one it is attacking. I am not getting as much xp as I would get if I had no pet (about 1500 per quenker), but it sure beats shuttling to Coronet just to find a doc, then sitting around in line waiting on a buff. If I outdamage the pet, the mob goes for me. When this happens I run, and pet will keep wearing it down and get agg back (I also hit heals and center of being).

Armor without buffs is not usable. You must use ponderous autoattack while armored, unbuffed.

hmmm i am with several of you on the not ok with master it quickly...i would like to become a master quick so i can be a bada$$...but i don't mind putting time and effort into it...and as for the macro macros are for image designers and medics hehe....i think it is a lot easier to just go one by one...like someone mentioned earlier...i mean youj don't see all the people that claim to have mastered it in 2 or 3 days to use a macro...so there is no need
