Dreaded Pikeman when the holo told me to do it, struggled for a week to get to novice pikeman, then another week to get to 1-0-0-0, gave up for almost two months because dancing and making music seemed more fun, then decided to get down to it.... and it was a lot of fun!.
During those two months I picked upa couple of looted lances (a nightsister lance with a good health poison, and a LVA with 574 max damage, low ham costs, and a slice that took it to 3.6 speed) and some skill tapes that gave me good bonuses to block and polearm accuracy.
Decided quenker (and after my first couple of boxes savage quenker) missions were the way to go, left behind any pets as they slowed me down, got doc buffs, mind food and muon for emergencies, put on a suitof 80% kinetic resist composite, and off to Dantooine I went.
Started slow, about 50k xpthe firsthour, but once I got into a rhythem it sped up, 100k and hour, 150k an hour, did 1.3 mill and got to 4-0-2-2 in a long day.
The next day it got even faster, 200k the first hour, 250k, then 300k by the time I mastered Pikeman that afternoon.
By the end of it here was what I was doing, basing out of a small player city, while on my swoop, get two 6800-6900cr savage quenker missions in the same direction, pop a muon (I have a macro that gives a countdown timer for when the downer will happen so I am never caught without my mind) and head towards the missions, jump off the bike and take out the missions as fast as I can, once the mission are done I have about 5 mins left on the muon so take out anything else in the vicinity (at first I had to be picky but once I got all my stances line full I could take almost any mob on dantooine), then head back to hte mission terminal as the downer hits, get two more missions, ready for another muon and off I go again. Every two hours as the buffs are wearing off remove my armor and get killed for a fast ride back to the cloning center and another set of buffs and some training.
So, after 2 months avoiding it and two days hard work I am now a Master Pikeman and I am going to keep it, it is fun, standing in the middle of 5 fierce pikit protectors spinning around, watching them fall to the ground and taking out all 5 without taking any noticible damage, definately not much use against NPCs with guns but great against animals, think I will severely reduce the Perlak population next as the current high quality lok avian meat is selling for 60cpu+.
Looking forward to exploring all the planets that I couldnt explore as adoc and seeing what makes the biggest earthquake when you knock it down!

Well, congrats and glad you enjoy it, but...the thought of people mastering what took me a month or so back in July in 2-4 days makes me wrinkle my eyebrows.

There is a new buff window on test center, lets you know when your spices will wear off.

The basic command is /alarmaddin x y your-message where x is the number of hours (0 for spices) and y is the number of minutes. "Your message" is whatever you want to print on the screen. There will be an audible alarm, and the message will display in x hours and y minutes.

yup i'm keeping it too, i head out and level pikeman when my weaponsmith customers just get too bad to deal with. yes it get that bad, that i'd rather swing at enemies and miss than deal with another stupid "UbER KraYt" weapon question.

My macro was a little more detailed than using add alarm, I put a moun in the Shift-
F12 slot and this macro in shift-F11:
/echo Muon Timer Started; /ui action toolbarSlot23; /pause 299; /echo Muon: 5 mins left!; /pause 179; /echo MUON: 2 MINS LEFT!; /pause 59; /echo MUON: 1 MIN LEFT!; /pause 29; /echo 30 SECONDS; /pause 9; /echo 20 SECONDS; /pause 9; /echo 10 SECONDS LEFT, RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!
whenever I needed the muon hit shift-F11, then I get a countdown loud and obnoxious enough that I dont miss it in all the combat spam, I use /echo so only I see the message and it doesn't bother anyone else.

I also include an alarm 180s after the downer starts letting me know I have 30 seconds left on the downer.
