Just got Polearms II. Still using the metal pole. what do you pikemaster suggest next interms of the next level for XP. Also, should I wait until Polearm IV before getting a VL or start using one at III?

Use a basic lance until you get to Novice Pikeman, then you can use either the VL or LVA, whichever you are comfortable with, but note that you will miss often with the LVA until you get to xxx2 Pikeman. After you get that, using a speed sliced LVA might be better than the VL in most situations. But only speed sliced until you get closer to master. You'll need the speed.
