I have never gotten an answer on this...well one that was a good anyways.
I have played a lot...finished 27 professions on Tarquinas but all my friends quit the game so I made a new toon on Flurry and I decided to do Pikeman as I have nver done that...
I did all the other combat professions and never once used CoB...people are telling me I am missing out...especially with a Pikeman...
Just what does CoB do?
Thanks

pretty the same like Berserk just reversed.
while berserks increases your damage and lowers your defensives,
CoB Increses your defensives and descreases your damage. just that CoB is 1000 times more efficiant then berserk.
just try it. fight aggainst a high lvl mob, watch your combat spam then turn on CoB.
u'll notice that he misses you far more often.

i always thought CoB heightened the rate at which dodge/counter/block activated.

CoB increases the rate at which your block/dodge/counterattack skills trigger
AS I remember I block around 10-15% of the time without CoB running and about 45-60% while CoB is running

cause im not. as soon as i activate CoB my combat spam, spams tons of "%TT misses you". the count of blocks is about the same as before.
same goes for the fencer. they just missed me which isnt the same like a dodge.
block/dodge/counterattack is "%TT hits your for 12331 points of damage but you block/dodge/counterattack it"
and why should a novice brawler get CoB then? since they usualy dont have any block/dodge/counterattack ...
so im pretty sure its "just" defenses

The posts about CoB increasing th secondary defenses is correct. CoB for Pike will allow the "Block" to happen more often.
However...
I have heard word that Block isn't wotking anyway. Yes... I have seen it appear on Combat log
but...
I'm still taking damage on a block. I don't htikn as much but I still do. I KNOW dodge doesnt' take any damage. Anyone else notice this?

Block is ment to reduce damage by 50%. That's it.

Wow I must be really lucky, when I have my cob macro going I never see a red hit in the combat spam, all misses and blocks. I haven't done any pike hunting since the last patch, I'll have to check out the block not letting any damage through now. If that is true we may really be a tank now

Block most certainly still lets damage through.
CoB doesn't change the miss rate at all as far as I can tell, but at master pikeman it roughly doubles the number of blocks.

Good discussion folks. One of my chars is a master fencer, and the other is a master pikeman. I'd never really researched into CoB, and this is good information. Thanks!
I assume the CoB duration for pikeman is the same for fencer? For instance, I think that it lasts for 30 seconds at master 1H. (I think I remember reading that somewhere.) Is it also the same for pikeman?
