I sure hope melee mitigation turns the tide on our non-DoT attacking. I find it pathetic to duel w/ no DoT's and my opponent regens damage faster than I can deal it. Tiny damage = Use for DoT's =P. Pikeman are the Carbineers of melee afterall. We no do damage at all, but causea ruckus of states. But this does come to newa possible future change. ? Ranged mitigation taken out because Carbineers do not damage at all either ? Seems itll turn out that way as with pikemen's new gift of melee mitigation being thrown out. I come to the conlusion, that we're still and will always be a Live Test Center. Pawns in the Devs game =P
I'm tired of being called CM-On-A-Stick. =P
Now if we only had a mind attack like the others ....
(Sorry that I went a litle off topic w/ the Carbineer and ranged mitigation discussion.)

well i might not be the best pikeman on my server i know a few things.
i dueled a master fencer while waiting for the weapons research place to spawn, and i had +15 accuracy/+12 speed at that time, and every 1 in 20 hits i managed to hit her and when i did it was for about 20 damage (max) and the LVA i was using was a 850 max one (she wasnt using any dodge food either, but wearing 80% kin armour).
but i can beat most master fencers in PvP by just using mind fires/poisons, do it doesnt really matter in PvP if they have nerfed melee mitigation, high melee defence still makes us weak as hell

With regard to hardly hitting a fencer, don't forget to throw an intimidate (and another state you can) on'em. It does wonders to those high defenses. I've had success in PvP without using DoTs, but I agree it's tough and a half. My main consideration when facing off with someone isn'ttoout damage them but to last as long as I can. In 8 out of 10 cases the, if you just hang in there and take the damage, they'll end up killing themselves.
Best!

Indeed, your best bet is to make up a macro that consists of something like:
warcry
intimidate
intimidate
area stun
area kd
area dizzy
The warcry is just there to buy you time to intimidate them, since intimidate doesnt break warcry.
The intimidate being in there twice will help it stick if it misses on the first try, if it doesnt stick then you are better off clearing the combat cue and keep on intimidating until it does or you will never hit a fencer on a regular basis.
Once they are intimidated you can now hit them fairly regularly so when you stun that will slow them for one combat round and at the same time make them easier to hit.
Once you have them intimidated and stunned then focus on making them dizzy and posture changing them to the ground.
When I am intimidating and applying states I use a pike with a mindfire dot. Once they are on the ground I switch to a high damage LVA and use polearmhit1 because it has no posture change that will pop them up, and because I am not speed capped so I do more damage with this special. I dont bother switching multiple pikes with dots unless the person I am fighting is pretty tough, usually the mindfire alone will tear up their mind pretty good. If they are tough then I might use my mind poison pike as well and alternate between that and the mindfire while constantly trying to apply states and keep themwarcried then intimidated if the original intimidate wears off or if there are multiple opponents.
If you are serious about pvping with pike imo you need master brawler for warcry 2 and intimidate 2.

If you are dueling a stacker you need to intimidate at the least. If you are a master brawler land a wc2 on them and spam intim2 until 4-5 stick if possible. If you can do this they will be intimidated for 4+ min. If not intim1 would have to suffice.
Also in addition to the +15 accuracy attachments get some citros snow cake. One of these from a good chef is +40 to accuracy which is considerably higher than accuracy attachments alone.
