Thread: Pikeman NS Lances and how you do it!?!?!

Hello Pikemen 
I ama long timepikemanbut new the the forums and I see all the great pike gurus explain these great guides out in how to gain all the lances and such (props to energy lance thread). I search and search, and I do infact get lances! Yet they are of no use to me.....They contain laughable mods and horrible DOTs. I am currently looking for DOT weapons because honestly, the prices have climbed too high for me now, and I am not the richest guy in the world to buy a great lance. All this looting was done TKA by the way, which I do not have anymore with my pursuit of Doctor.
Lets head to my question.......
How do you do it? First off, how do you fend these nightsisters off? I cannot seem to hold my own as a 4/3/3/4 pikeman against the easiest of nightsisters with my 500+ LVA. I try to KD them and dizzy, which works occasionally, I try leghit 3 and polearm hit 2 on them to no avail. Do you have any strategy in loot runs? All of this is done solo by the way. Secondly, how do you find these lances? I have yet to find a GOOD lance! I continue to pick up crystals, horrible mod pikes or credits alone. My main targets are what I can actually take, Protectors, Initiates and the occasional Sentinel.
Please help me out, I am just lost completely and have yet to find a useful weapon damage or DOT wise.

I'd say, get master pike first... believe it or not, theres a noticable difference between master pike and 4/4/4/4 pike, little alone your pike level.

I picked up pikeman fairly recently. I've been interested in it for a while, and had decided long ago that if I ever tried out a melee profession, it would be the one.
I went NS hunting tonight and no problems at all until a Protector spawned in next to me and hit me in the head. (Music buff wore off and i was full so no brandy, took off my helmet to kite an Elder with mindshot3.)
Yeah, I have rifleman too. I was a master commando for a while, got bored with it, checked out TK- HATED IT (i wanted to see what all the fuss was about), so decided to finally give pikeman a whirl. (It is AWESOME so far, btw.) I was going through rifle at the time and I'll keep it too. (It's nice to be able to snipe once in a while, especially when you don't have terrain negotiation and they run from you.)
My current: pikeman 1110, m.brawler (intim2 oh yes, and an extra kick of polearm speed,) rifle 4224, tk 0002 (defenses.) I don't have any trouble with nightsisters, unless I'm stupid. And that spin attack is real nice. I just tab through and intim2 each that is around me, then warcry2 and hope it hits as many as possible, then spam spinattack until they're dropping. My stats are all 400 except mind/foc/will which is 1000. That's pre-buff. I won't step foot outside a city without full doc buffs and music buff (dance doesn't matter.) 80% kin resist ubese. With full buffs and one brandy, I use 0 ham for any special I want to do; add in resist of armour, melee mit 1 (so far) and intim2 and they hit me for about 30 dmg.
I'd suggest picking up some defenses from another profession or, if you want to stay "pure," get some good melee defense SEAs and clothing, maybe some synthsteak and such.
Honestly, if your melee defense is lower than 70 or even 80, you shouldn't even bother; they're going to hit you a LOT.

if you dont have at least novice medic you really should consider picking it up, pikeman take way too much damage not to have this, stim b's work wonders

I disagree with this, particularly since the original poster mentioned pursuing doctor. I do just fine against nightsisters as a pikeman/doctor, even with flimsy wookiee armor. Lower defenses simply require different strategies and a good ability to heal.

I grinded up from Novice pike to Master on nothing but Night Sisters. I had a 1.5 spd 478 dmg LVA. You need Willpower/focus buffs and any nomal buffs above 1800. 80% kinetic armour is a must. You need to be able to use a least stim B's. Apart from that just run into the group and spam area attack. I got master playing about 3 hrs a day in under a week. Once you get Master everything will get a whole lot easier 
Good drops come from Weavers, Protectors and Elders. The others do drop but not as well. I got a 854 Max dmg from a Protector and a 750 dmg VL from a outcast. Good luck

I've found medic to be a waste of skillpoints for me. The only time I had ever used it is in a group when i notice someone needing healing, so I dropped it a long time ago. /shrug
