Pikeman Archive

I know that a smart thing to do is have a kinetic system of combat, for when you get in close(pistoleer is OK, but kinetic is much more powerful in close quarters). I know the profession does not really get interesting until about Polearm III, which is fine. So I'm sticking close to the cities right now as I'm still using a wooden staff. What are some of the more challenging missions for a novice for XP? Thanks.
