I've got it on good authority that powerups don't make weapons decay faster, but I think they do.

My LVA went from 899 to 830 in just three lairson Dant last night, not even using specials.

Perhaps the type of powerup - and what it effects - has an impact on this?

Powerups always increase the decay rate of weapons. I only use them in PVP and I rarely do that. If you don't believe me, pop a powerup on and swing it til the powerup wears off (100 uses). Check the decay rate. Get a weapon with same stats with new condition and swing it 100 time with no power up (I know this is hard, but someone else tested this on another forum) and check the condition.
