Thread: Anyone else pleased with the defenses being capped?

Aside from being unfortunate that block allows damage, I've been smiling at the fact that I can actually hit people who were unhittable/invincible before. Certain players who pre-publish were simply out of reach can now be taken down. It's still a challenge to land hits on fencers, but it's doable - you just have to swing fast. I love seeing players fall that previously would take out huge groups of players without being touched, the field has levelled somewhat with the caps. Of course, I now get hit almost everytime, but that's another issue.

Our defenses are too low and the caps hurt us, but it just brings a smile to my face to see the untouchables get killed like almost regular characters.

doc buffs, 2x brandys, 1 kd def food, 1 poison/disease resist food, 1 dmg reduction food, +25 accuracy/speed/dmg attachments, 80%+ all/35% stun helmet composite, 900+ dmg LVA, mind poison polearm and you're all set. And it only cost you 6-12 million. The funnest thing is, you can do all this and still die very very quickly to a few things (even faster in combination): mind poison/disease, dizzy loop, ion rifle.

its a lovely thing to see that pikeman is on more of a level playing field in pvp. Defense stackers that i have never been able to hit more than 2 or 3 times in a duel now fall to te might of the pikeman muhahaha.. *cough* well i can beat them sometimes now, and even if i dont i feel good knowing i hit them enough actually make a difference in there hams.

I'm still having a bugger of a time with the usual suspects.

Fencers, Riflemen/TK and anything/CM.

The only template gone from the mix is the Fencer/Pistoleer combo that caused all the troubles in the first place.

I don't know about you guys, but lately my whole PvP strategy has been to nail them with the mind poison/fire, and then auto-attack until they die.

Its only a bugger when guys like the riflemen and the CMs crap up your mind before you can crap up theirs.

The fencers are just plain hard to get a hit on.

intimidate is your best friend legwand. it totally negates their dodge mods.

and i love fighting riflemen now. before they were untouchable. now, they're almost too easy. and i love the "how did you kd me from way over there?" tells that i get. polearmlunge2 is sexy. i also notice my dizzy from area2 sticking a lot, which makes me happy. even if they have that kd food in them, just lunge or ph3 them, and they posture change. then its floppy time for them as they keep falling.

CM's are still a pain in my arse though. especially those cowards that toss a poison from 90m away, and then run from you until you have no mind left.

i dont like the change at all.

yes its good that unhittables are now hittable - just plain sensible.

but there is very little missing at all anymore - and that bugs me.

and the fact that i am now a riflemen - thats sucks never wanted to be any type of fighter cept pike - now its either riflemen or doc.

which in itself is suckful - im already beginnng to see one hell of a lot of docs.

Im glad that they fixed the unhittables though - and made it a bit more fair(i.e. the 10-1 odds and still losing) i just think it could have been adjusted without the defence nerf(or at least one of that magnitude).

but still im glad that you guys are happy

Yeah, a stun-layered helmet, 2 brandys, entertainer buffs (hard to find), and a muon will keep your mind healthy and active through CM attacks and maybe a few rifleman attacks. Unless they have some of that pre-nerf spider venom poison...that's mean stuff.

Quick note. Dueled a fencer the other day. I tried intimidate 8 different times throughout the fight.

Not one stuck.

Tried dizzy and stun many times.

Not one stuck.

Kind of hard to beat these guys when hardly any state changes work on them.

(Of course, I could've just used my poison lance and made quick work of him but thats no fun is it?)

yeah, intimidate doesn't stick as well as it used to, but i have a bandolier with +15 to intimidate. i just spam it a couple of times, hit peace when it sticks, and pummel away. maybe that fencer had some kind of intimidate defense mods on him or something. i dunno. i have seen SEA's with def vs. intimidate on them.

Yeah, my alt rifleman/pikeman is stacked with SEA's with def vs. intimidate. Makes a very big difference. First post on these forums so no one flame me on being a rifleman too. My alt is a wookiee and I am not gonna use anything but a bowcaster with my pikes outta principle whether or not it means death
