Hi guys, looking for a little advice here.

I'm currently a Master Swordsman/Master Teras Kasi/4000 Doc, and my primary role in any group I'm in generally comes to being a tank. I have 6k inate armour, run ICOB, have CA's that cap my defences and with the powerboot, nutrient injection, + foods, find myself sitting pretty on 4600 health so tanking a bunch of 82's - 85's isn't generally a problem as long as I've got a doc with me.

Now....I have a bit of an issue, because one of the great things about swordsman is the area taunt which means I can grab agro indefinetly, which is great for the tank role.

My questions - I've been considering going Master Pikeman instead, I've acquired a Poisonspike and a Kashyyyk Bladestick to pre-empt my decision.

  1. Is Pikeman better than Swordsman as a rule for tanking, and does it offer the chance to keep agro? Naturally area attacking the lair will keep agro, but in instances like the NS caves for instance.

  2. What is the general difference in damage that you see between the two weapons? They seem fairly even on the whole and naturally I'll be ADK'ing one, and keeping another to ADK when I have enough to acquire one.

  3. Would you consider Master Pikes/Teras Kasi/Doc 4000 to be a decent enough template for PvE/Grinding

Thanks in advance guys.

1. Pikeman is the better crowd control template, but lack of area taunt just means you have to do area attacks (area KD FTW!!!) and make sure your team only attacks your primary target (simple enough to do thanks to the new asist system)

2. The difference is minimal for poisonspikes, and all bladesticks are completely identical. But dont bother ADKing either of them, since (on my server at least) you wont pay more than 1mil for either, instead track down/do the quest for a kaminoan great staff, or hunt around until you find an uber pre-CU vibro lance.

3. Yes, I have that exact template and can solo nearly anything, only exceptions being a) ancient krayts and b) necrosis (but ooooooh so close to soloing him, got him down to 3980 the other day )

Cheers mate,

This character can't be respecced because I joined a different server with a brand new character after the Cu, so I'll grind that when I get in from work.

Great Staff is the long quest in Kashyyyk right? I'll go do that today as well. haven't got round to playing in space much so that's a good time to start.

Cheers for the advice : )

Good luck on the kamino staff, you need a tight team to get through some of the later stuff (not necessarily an 8 person group or a jedi group, but a tight team nonetheless)

And welcome to the ranks of uber pikemen, I hope you enjoy your stay!

1. i was just at the NS stronghold solo, and did it all without much problem (got really low on mind at one point). pikes is a better tank, since it has area attacks, area kd, intimidate (lower damage), warcry (lower speed) and stun (lower damage + regens), it is a better tank.

2. i have the bladestick, and i do not at all think it is worth ADK'ing. if you want to ADK a pike, i say geta 1k damage +, less than 95 SAC VL

3. yes
