Pikeman is not the best in PvP without high damage, looted pikes or DOT weapons. However, you can do well without these if you know how to apply your knockdown attacks and action hits, properly. This is just from observation and from what I have read as I don't PvP, myself.

yeah, its not really worth dabbling in...you'd be slow and pretty inaccurate. If you looking for doted weapons you'd probably be just as well of with a lance and M.B.

Depends on what you want to do in PvP, kick ass, or have fun. There a several possible answers to this, and here's my take on them.

1) Define "kick ass." It either means "to pulverize your enemies into tiny, insignificant particles of dust, and then grind them into a thin brown powder that goes well on burgers and poultry," you may want to consider taking something else. If to you it means, "looking 'kick ass' while you get your 'ass kicked',"(*) start grinding pikes. If its a mix of both, don't take pikes unless you plan on devoting a lot of time and effort to getting the perfect pike(s). This is a profession that makes you go above and beyond the normal standard of getting to master and finding a nice crafted weapon in order to find your true potential.

2) If "have fun," is reminiscent to the first definition in 1, then take another look at what I had to say about that. But, I say that having pikes gives you a new meaning to this. It actually results in "enjoyment of the game," despite (for the most part) all its many flaws. I'm surprised I'm still typing things up on the forums and not grinding away at it, personally, because even the grinding is fun. However, by your first post, I would guess you are looking for somthing that improves upon what you already have, and I would pretty much have to tell you, this probably wouldn't turn out as great as you expect.

That said, enjoy whatever new profession you choose, but remember: Once a pikeman, always a pikeman.

* This isn't to say that pikemen 'get their asses kicked', quite to the contrary, we pwn in more ways then one.

Melee mitigation 3 on your opponent effects your pike's damage greatly. DOT's do well though.
