Pikeman Archive

Im soon to be a master doctor.. and am having a hard time choosing a side profession (for PVE) as high end as possible, for this i beleive people go Swordsman for blast damage, however - im more interested in pikes, what kinda things can we do that are good? What mobs do we specialize in killing - and how hard is it to farm cash as one? ill list the questions

1. Will Pikeman work with doctor well for highish end PvE?
2. Do your damage types suffice? Electricity and Kinetic (i think?)
3. Anything we specialize in?
4. How far can i go in PvE with Master Doc / Master Pike?
5. What are good things to do with leftover skill points (if there are any)
6. Can we farm cash well?
7. Any mobs we specialize in killing? (at a guess id say SBD's)

Yes and No, we don't have weapons that have High armor penetration so that limits us a bit, but if you get a good LVA then you will be able to hunt Tuskens, Nightsisters and whatever with some ease, just be on the lookout for the highest of enemies oyu will not survive those
2. Do your damage types suffice? Electricity and Kinetic (i think?)
Sometimes they are not good enough
3. Anything we specialize in?
At master you will have access to some okay specials, though our main target pool is Action i find that it's not worth targeting
4. How far can i go in PvE with Master Doc / Master Pike?
If you are set up for fighting buffed then you can go far, normally i hunt Nightsisters up to and including Spellweavers, Elders has 100% resists in both Kinetic and Electricity, and have Heavy Armor.
5. What are good things to do with leftover skill points (if there are any)
1-0-0-0 Scout for the added Terrain Navigation
6. Can we farm cash well?
You can get a fair ammount, i've been getting an average of 100k i pure looted cash per buff session, but i'm sure i coule get more if i did missions
7. Any mobs we specialize in killing? (at a guess id say SBD's)
Personally i almost only fight Nightsisters and Tuskens, but there may be other worthy opponents out there

Honestly Pikeman is great fun and good for PvP. However, if you want to solo high end mobs like Elders or Krayts.....pick up swordsman and get it speed capped. You will be in much better shape.

as pike u can kill any NS even Night Sister Elders if you want to use a NSEL but that lance puts u back 5-10 mil and i have seen it done

Yes. I'm a Master Pikeman and 4/4/4/0 in medic, and it's been great so far.

Depends on what your fighting really...but I've never had much of a problem (with the exception of NS elders and ATST's )

Action hits. And DoTs

I think it'd be a good combo, as long as you have a good stat migration with as many points as possible in your mind pool.

5. What are good things to do with leftover skill points (if there are any)
I'm mastering brawler, for the added speed, defense, etc.

6. Can we farm cash well?
With the best of 'em. Ft. Tusken is always good...you can get 100k a buff session on a good day.

7. Any mobs we specialize in killing? (at a guess id say SBD's)
Anything with low resists to kinetic and electricity


Of course, I'm partial to pikes, and I think it'd be a great combo. There are other goodtemplates of course...doc/rifleman, doc/swordsman, doc/TK. A little trial and error never hurt anyone....just consider all your options, and pick what works best for you.

Because the only way you can even damage an elder aside from DoTs is with a NSEL, which the majority of pikemen do not have, and most of those who do have one have no interest in wasting its condition senselessly fighting an elder. Pikemen can solo elders the same way pistoleers can solo elders: slowly and pointlessly.

Still you get to say yea I soloed a NSE with a NSEL its for pride and for doing something fun not every one goes to get the loots some people just do it for fun and see what your able to do and is you can pass that point its just goals people set and try i no of a pikemen that has 10 NSEL he keep them from when they where only 1-3 mil

You can fight Tuskens with no problem at Master Pikes. This is even without a high end looted pike. Man for a pikeman one of my favorite places is to hang out at the Tusken camp and do some serious Tusken population control.
