My inclination is to say that any template besides TKA should go with max damage over DPS. Action just drains too quickly in most cases to give DPS much meaning.
I've yet to conduct any really controlled tests on it though.

My question is this,,,,, does your speed mod effect your warm up timers directly, I know they lower modified weapon speed,,, does the modified weapon speed play into the warm up timers?,,,,, do we know if any timers have a cap on speed,,??
I ask this because for my example I have one hamemr got converted to 1173 damage but only 289 DPS
I have another hammer covnerted to 996 dmg and 304 DPS,,,,,
now the 1173 hammer hits considerably harder on a target doing 1570 in comparison the the 996 hammer only going 1320
so it would appear in the combat spam that the 1173 is doing more damage per hit but at a slower rate if we believe DPS,,,,, although the question should be asked that if we are waiting on our action to refill alot should we just go witht he Max damage weapon anyway
Has anyone actually tested DPS and MAX damage to see what wins out,,, the new system makes it seem like DPS is the end all which i believe,,,, BUT ,,,, do the timers have caps also,,,, if they cap at a certain speed for an attack then Max damage is the way to go

I used a +8 polearm speed mod. The following results are with a VL 530 DPS (modified) and 1.4 speed (Modified)
Without mod:
My char: Speed - 102
Weapon: Speed 1.4 DPS 530 (both modified)
With mod:
My char: Speed - 110
Weapon: Speed 1.37 DPS 540 (moth modified)
So, the result is a very small difference
