Thread: Crowd control but lacking in area attacks!?!?!

I am kinda disappointed with the lack of area attacks that we have. I mean an area KD is fine but after that we have only one area spin. For a good crowd control profession you would think we would be extrememly effective at area attacks and have at least more that one.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way or if this has been presented to the DEV's. Either way this is one of the things that I think needs addressed for pikeman.

What other kinds would you like to see?

For me, doing damage, and knocking down, is a good set. Possibly and area dizzy, but other than that, I can't really think of anything that would be needed....

Area Taunt would make sense, but IIRC it is a Swordsman skill (not sure if it makes sense belonging to swords, given they lack a spin attack).

I'm not advocating that pikes should have all the abilities, but it really makes sense to have Area taunt, Area spin attack, and Area KD in one prof. That would really help us in the tanking and opponent modifying... Taunt mobs toward you, then KD, then spin attack. As it stands, it's not totally easy to keep the mobs' attention by taunting them one at a time. Anyone agree/disagree?

I don't think the PIkeman has enough defensive skills by itself to have area taunt.

TK? yes

You need to dabble in all the melee defense to be able to REALLY tank mobs.

Good point, I agree.. I am thinking from my own point of view I guess, since I've got TKM / Master Brawler / Master Pikes, plus some of that new BE defense clothing, and +20 in FS melee defense.

But IMO it still makes more sense for us to have itthan swordsman, since swordsman is better at blasting things out one by one as opposed to aggroing an entire lair onto itself.

I'm not terribly offended at what we DO have, but more area state attacks would be helpful. Maybe Improved Stun should be an AoE. Or perhaps they'd add an Advanced Stun at the Master Pikeman box as the AoE version to prevent FOTM-ism.
