Thread: Unique (I Think) Template for your Review

Alrighty, well after falling in love with Pikeman over a year ago I decided to keep that love in the CU. I switched out of my old template of Master Pikeman, Master Pistoleer, Fencer, for my new and improved Master Pikeman, 0/4/0/4 Combat Medic, 0/0/4/4 Swordsman.


With swordsman I gain Critical Strike, Armor Break, and more melee accuracy as well as Ranged and Melee defenses.


Combat Medic offers me a Root and Snare to keep ranged fighters nearby. It also gives me moderate healing.


Review this, let me know what you think. Having never played CM or Swordsman before the CU and being 100% new to the CU, I am still learning the entire combat scheme of this template.

Firstly, you've done well with the Swords.

The CM is the part which is a bit "strange". CM is a Ranged Support profession, and your Mastery is a Melee Prof. The DoTs and Debuffs would work nicely, especially with Pike's tanking ability, but the problem is, you'll be limiting the true potential of CM when playing as Melee. One of the greatest things about CM is being able to heal from Range; as Melee, that advantage becomes somewhat redundant.

I think having a little bit of ranged in with a melee profession is a good idea and the little extra healing that cm provides is in my opinion a good thing. Sure it is a different template but at least with the ranged u can pull creatures a whole lot easier than u can with a pure melee. If u like it, than stick with it-that is my advice.

Also, I can't stress enough how nice having a Root and Snare is with the Combat Medic skills. No pesky running away.


I've got 215 Melee and nerly 250 Ranged Defense with this template as well as over 200 accuracy with polearms. I am liking it very much right now. I have a 500 DPS VL.

Here are a few concerns i would have with the template


If you dont master two proffesion arnt you capped at level 76? which would make high level pve and pvp harder?.


The heals from CM with out any healing effeciency branch are going to be so low that they wont be worth using!


CM snares and roots have limited range so a ranged proffesion can still stay out of range with no worries.!


with only 1 tree of biosupresion skill mods are the roots even going to stick that oftern?


the CM root brakes after any dmg is taken so not much point havingthe poisions and fire if you plan to root a lot!


90% of range people seem tohave a snare or a root so if you hit a snare then they will root or snare you so it will be exactly the same except in slomotion

I picked up a Pikeman on analt and really liked it. I love melee...I tried CM/Rifle Rifle/Doc Pistoleer...nope, wouldn't fit. I took a 5 month break from the game so I'm kinda relearning all this stuff. I put this together not too long ago, it has insane accuracy. I haven't really tested it too much since I had to start all over since I moved servers and my main was FS.


Comments welcomed! Anyone that has actually tested this template post-CU would be of much help. Thanks!
