Thread: TKA vs Pikeman **edit**?
Ok well we already know that vs ranged.. we get our asses kicked.. 5 fights with 5 different ranged people, and i didnt even get within hitting distance, every single fight all they did was suppression shot, suppression shot, over and over, kept me on my knee the whole time, i would stand up for about a sec than knocked back on the knee.
now i know this has always been a problem the notorious melee vs ranged problem. so today i decided to have some melee vs melee fights. 2 different TKA's and every single fight, they kicked my ass without me even getting them down to half life.
I have a screenshot althought i currently have no place to post it, but when i do get it up you will see that with my 3.8 sec speed polearm, i hit once for about 150ish dmg (with a special) and then before i hit again, i get hit 12 times, count em 12 times, for 60-98 dmg..
12 times in between my hits??? **edit**??? he didnt use a single special and he kicked my ass.
on the fight vs the second one i tried using sweep. what i usually do is switch to my combat staff.. sweep (for low ham) then switch back to my lance, but all he would do was get back up.. and hit me 4 times.. before i even swung my lance again?? that kind of speed is impossible...
I made a spreadsheet breakdown of melee skill mods. Pikemen and Heavy Swordsmen have a LOT less skills mods than fencers and TKAs. Pikemen have64 less than fencers, 118 less than TKAs, and that is not counting the TKAs damage increases( +98 ) and their meditate increases( +100 ). If you don't count special-status combat defense( ohh boy! +40 against dizzy! ) then we come in dead last, 17 behind heavy swordsmen, and 123 behind TKAs.
Check out the spreadsheet I compiled( in html and xls )

TKA's would be pretty dang hard to beat before polearmhit3. I'll have to try dueling one to see if it's even close. With polearmhit3 having stun and posture down, it delays their attack long enough to even get heals off inbetween hits. Not to mention doing enough dmg to take someone down in 2 hits if you nail the same pool twice. Any melee fight I typically just lunge2 with my combat staff, then switch to LVA and proceed to beat them down with PH3 (healing myself when necessary) until they die. Unless you miss 2x in a row, they won't get a chance to hit you.
Ranged works the same way, once you can get them on the ground, its over. Catching them before they KD or PD you to death is the only problem. BTW, I hate eyeshot. Mind pool dmg is almost as overpowered as KD in PVP now since the 75% dmg cut. It's easy to heal H/A as long as you're not on your ass, but mind dmg kills.
I really hate that knockdown is the only way for us to win, but you have to work with the system or get killed a lot. Still makes me feel cheap though. Sweep2 on groups of rebels cracks me up, but it sure pisses them off, and I can't blame them for being mad =p
i here you on the KD issue madmartagan, it does feel cheap in a PvP fight.
i can handle uesing it on mobs cause they are players but use it on a person and you almost feel sorry for them. i did my first duel the other day and won vs a pistoleer useing lunge2, sweep and hit2. yeah i killed them but it didnt feel like i proved anything cause they never even got a chance to hit me. /shrug. i may not like it in friendly duels and whatnot but full out PvP i dont hold back, whatever it takes to win.
