Yeah, riflemen are getting to be a less common breed these days for PVP. I convinced a guy that it was a badidea after 1-hit killing him 4 times last nightduring a reb/imp conflict in bestine. Eyeshot is still a real pain though.


I agree that we should have a higher H/A cost than the ranged people, but I also don't think spamming special moves with a high end weapon should be a valid tactic for anyone. Specials should be strategically used out of necessity, not preference.


Intimidate2 works just fine, although it would be nice to have a damagingattack with a 10-15 sec intimidate effect associated. I don't see how being able to make stuff run away would really benefit us other than when trying to fight groups of NPC's that constantly want to kite us. I'd prefer movement ratepenalties/bonuses granted during combat based on weapon and profession mastery as a way to chase things down faster. That's kind of a topic derail, but what can you do

We would probably make the most use of it by using it the same way many ranged users do now. Bleed it, then make it run away. It's bread and butter for ranged PvE.

HAM cost and Mind Damage should not be in our list of bugs/complaints. HAM cost is supposed to be high, the way to lower it is not to complain to devs, the way to do it isto get buffed with food, spice, or doctor enhancements. Drink a couple tat sunburns andtry complaining abouthow high your HAM costs are--how can NO cost be too high? Do you want us to start heealing ourselves by using our specials? Chefs, spices, and doctors are in the game for a reason. Make use of them.


I have never understood the complaint about mind damage being unfair. People keep saying that they are getting incapped constantly due to mind damage. Think about it, if you are getting incapped constantly it's because you are too weak to be fighting whatever it is you're fighting. I hear, "I die constantly. Make it so I don't die as much." It's not a legitimate issue.

I agree with you about HAM costs.


People complain about LVA ham costs, but seriously, just get a combat staff and use it for KD and other effects, do your damage with your main weapon. Hitting for 3-5k dmg (not counting the times you hit KD'd or riflewielding stuff) in PVE at the cost of 200-250 HAM is not that bad of adeal. In PVP it's more like 300-1k dmg for 200-250 HAM, but that's still not a bad deal when you can kill someone in two hits.


The only reason I can see why people complain is because a lot of ranged weapon HAM costs are rediculously low in comparison. I think a better solution is to increase their HAM costs instead of making this game easier than it already is.


As far as mind dmg is concerned, it works fine in PVE.


PVP is a little different.Mind targeting attacks, especially mind bleeding, are almost as overpowered in PVP as KD is. I don't see an easy solution to the problem, so I guess we'll just have to deal with it for the time being.

Riflemen have pretty big disadvantages to make up for being able to target mind. Increased melee damage is a huge deal, and their close ranged accuracy is pretty poor--we complain about the -50 on our LVA's but riflemen have to deal with far worse than that at close range. -80 hit and +250% melee damage is scary.


On the other hand, I do not think combat medics should have mind attacks, it doesn't seem to fit with the dev's overall philosophy about mind damage. And it seems especially unbalanced that they can target mind while docs (the natural counter to combat medic) cannot buff mind.


On HAM cost: I think we should have higher cost than ranged fighters. Squeezing a trigger requires quite a bit less effort than swinging a 20 lb metal bar at someone. The balance between ranged and melee shouldn't be lower HAM cost for us, it shouldbe that WE have better chance to hit, not the other way around. We also need a comparable PvE skill to Warning Shot, or send warning shot to high level scouts or Ranger. I'd like a creature-only attack for brawlers that either intimidated or made the target flee like warning does.
