I have yet to see these weapons in game, and i have heard rumors that the steel required for them isnt even implemented yet, is this true?

Each server is different. Some have the metal others dont.

Different for each server - ditanium has been rare since the start, but now on Kauri it's been on every planet for the past couple of weeks, in more than one type even. No longer rare at all.

btw, the steel required in both of those weapons is ditanium steel. the VL also requires polysteel coppers, and the LVA duralloy still, which seem to be more common.

The only important quality for the melee weapons is shock resistance.
