I obtained a skill mod tape a long time ago, Polearm Counterattack +5.

It's my understanding that you must first have the skill in order to have it modified. This is assuming that skill mods actually work that is.

Since Block is the Pikemans defense, and there is no skill mod counterattack that is in the Pikeman skill tree, what good is it?

No, you do not need to have the skill to have it modified, as I havea similar tape roll that I added to my shirt. However, I do not think that any of the pikeman skills work, (heh, block, etc.) and that I think you need +10 to actually change things, though you could just add it to a shirt, then add another +5 to a hat or something you don't wear armor on, like a belt.

I have dabbled a bit with the skill enhancersm though do not know what all of it means, or if they work now. So this comesout of theory and experimentation.
