Thread: Can we get some unity play the game again?

Fellow pikemen and pikewomen,

I truly understand all of the frustration we have had with the most recent patch. It is difficult to have the game changed on us as it was. I really do understand that this the most prevelent issue before us.

That is not the purpose of this thread.

This board used to be a very productive place to talk about XP, cool spots to solo, weaponry, "I just hit for 2100 damage," and other wonderful stuff. Now, all we have are lots of complaints and flames against Silver.

Could we move back to an environment where we can discuss what is happening with pikemen/pikewomen, and move on to enjoy the game together? All the while, we all understand that the KD is the biggest issue before us, and we will address this where appropriate.

Let's stand together on issues, and not allow this to divide us. We don't have a lot of representation out there as it is. If we are stuck in useless banter and arguement, we will never get anything accomplished.

This forum should be a place where folks can express their views, as well as enjoy the game and build community together. Lately, we've lost the latter half.

We're letting a great community slip down the tubes. I'm committed to rallying together for the sake of all pikemen and pikewomen!! Let's come together, bring back the community, and ENJOY the game again. (The last thing I want as replies to this thread is, "I can't enjoy the game anymore." Please don't insult me by replying that way.) Let's figure out what makes this game fun. I didn't sign up for a pikeman because I knew it was the EASY route, I signed up because that is what I WANTED to play. That is ME. I am a PIKEMAN. Let's remember that.

For what it's worth.

Excellent post. Some people feel it is in their best interest to insult and degrade anyone that disagrees with the majority's view of certain issues. Considering how small the pikeman profession is, I expected a closer and more mature community here. Instead, it has become very much like the Creaure Handler forum... god forbid you agree with a nerf, the reaction is always negative. I also love this profession, I left TK just to pursue it. Despite the garbage some have said to me, I hope we can organize with Silver Surfer and further better our class with his help. It was obvious from the beginning that this class was going to be more of a challenge. The crying has to stop, andconstructive conversation needs to be emphasized...

I continue to play this game out of love for my professions.

When the "New Game Enhancements" go live, I will leave this game.
You can give it a pretty name, but it does not hide your shame...

I support unity throughout or class, but my goal goes furtherthen the boards. I belive that we should help out one another in game, by helping someone being kited bya ranged, or someone getting beat down by a moster that is larger then them. Stuff like that, I think it would return nobility to this class, which, truely, we have always had. It just takes a few people to start the motion of a community for pikeman to help out a fellow pikeman. Strength in numbers, and such.

When I run across another pikeman in-game, I almost always chat a little with them, help them out if I can, or at least give them a nod on my way. I've had the same thing happen to me, I don't know what other professions can say their members take the time to say hello or whatever to another member they meet. Of course, it's much easier when there are few.

Agreed, esprit de corp ingame is great. We do not need "unity" ingame, just comradery.

As for these boards, we sure as hell do not need unity, I am personally glad that we do not all have the same opinions. Just imagine a forum where evryone had the same opinions and ideas... scary. >=\

Hah! When was the last time constructive criticism changed the world? or SWG for that matter.

Look at the Commando forums before they un-nerfed the profession.... nothing but loudmouths.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I agree, people should be able to express their views without getting pummeled, even if they disagree with the majority.

Belbringi,

I'm not implying that we're not loud. I'm implying that we stay with one another, and not beat each other up. This used to be a board where we would help each other and talk about things related to the game. Help me out, am I missing something? I agree - we should DEFINATELY have our voice heard. We deserve to, we're paying for this game, too.

Ultimately, we can't control what the devs do. They're going to do what they're going to do. We can try to influence them and tell them how we feel. We can kick and scream. We can whine and complain. But it may not do any good.

What we can DEFINATELY control is how we react as a community. We should rise up. Why get defeated? We can control this community and the unity we have. Thanks.

I tend to agree but, frankly, it's not going to happen. The only time dev's, in ANY MMORPG noticed a class is going downhill, is when players of the class start cannabalizing (sp?) each other, and quitting hte class. The very fact their are still a few people who think Pikemen(women) have some kind of strength left, is proof that they just haven't played the class higher then novice pike.

Every single person who goes, "This class is ok still, the KD hurt but it's still fun" needs to stop and give everyone, ONE good reason why you should play Pikeman.

Even Teras Kasi outdamage us now- there's physical evidence of it. We fail at everything we were originally designed to do, yet, we should suck it up and pretend like everything is ok? That's why Paladins weren't fixed for nearly a year and a half in EQ. They sucked it up and pretended like everything was dandy. We need constructive criticism, we don't need to sweep the issues under a matt.

As of right now, there really is no reason to play a Pikeman(woman) unless your masochistic. Seriously.

You are missing Yoda's point. Nobody wants to lie down and play dead. Nobody is saying this is all fine and dandy. But there needs to be more unity and direction. We have a very good correspondent, and he was flamed just for saying he doesn't use KD much. The point is... when I post, I don't want 5 geek fanboys telling me I have no clue what I'm talking about because I am a novice. If you disagree, tell me why, and go on with your life. But this all this flaming is not going to motivate the Dev's...

Diversity and Unity are not mutually exclusive - in fact, they are very complimentary. Therefore I disagree with the statement that we do not need unity on these boards - we do need to be united. I agree with the point that diversity of opinions is good. It definitely is.

We have several common factors behind which we can unite: we are pikeman, we are a minority in game, and we are underrepresented to the DEVS. Therefore, the more unity we have - the better off we are.

I AM SAYING WE SHOULD BE LOUD. We should make the pains we have known. FOR SURE.

What I'm saying we shouldn't do is start ripping each other apart for opinions - it gets us nowhere. That's all.

I believe that that was everyone's goal in the begining, to come together in a unified voice and present our concerns to the devs.

The problem is, we couldn't seem to come together and agree on this latest nerf and people started getting frustrated. People strictly stuck to their oppinions on both sides of the spectrum and we couldn't come to the devs in 'One voice'.

Heres a good story, i made 250k and 150k xp in bit over 2 hours yesturday

Just go do endor small pubam missions, berserk is key now that sweep doesn't work, but you have to have a pet to tank and having a suit of 66% composite doesnt hurt either. I used about 200 stim C, and 2 crates of power ups but I think its worth it. Anyways the xp is not as good as it used to be but not end of the world either. If you dont have a pet I think using mk3 and composite works(unless if your a trandoshan like me then 1 hit on the hands or feet kills you heh, so you have to use pet). Anyways, I hope sweep comes back cuz composite armor looks retarded, and pets are just as cheap as sweep.
