Thread: Area attacks are broke.
Post KD nerf, I've been trying to make good use of area attacks.
That's when I noticed they are broken. I can't get it to do anything consistently, but the more enemies it's targeting at once the more likely it is to do something wrong.
The two things I've noticed are that sometimes it will say you are hitting one of your targets (and a damage number even goes up over its head), but the target doesn't actually take any damage.
Second I've noticed (especially against lairs) that sometimes it will hit your primary target for the number of hits of total targets. So when I target a lair and 5 monsters are attacking me, I will hit the lair 6 times at once, and not hit the enemies at all. While it's neat to kill 10k health lairs instantly, it's not neat to have a ton of monsters hitting you while you aren't able to hit back.
It's especially not neat because we are allegedly the crowd control/area profession, and we get a big, hard-hitting, early set back in the form of -12 toughness compared to the other classes.
Also, wookiee roar is still 100% broken. It hasmissed the last 20 times I've used it (I've started keeping track). Have any zabraks out there failed equilibrium or vitalize 20 times in a row? How about once in a row? Didn't think so. With the recent changes to armor to make it more viable, Wookiees are a gimped race as long as our innate ability is 100% broken.
And just as a quick addition: our accuracy is BS.
There is no justification or reason for having a -50 accuracy modifier on what would be one of our best weapons.
As a comparison (although I generally don't like to make class comparisons) Swordsmen get an AP2 weapon at level 2 (two-handed curved sword). Theirs does a little more than half the damage ours does but theirs is twice as fast, so the DPS is about the same. Oh, I meant the DPS is the same until you consider accuracy in the equation theirs is +9 accuracy at all ranges ours is -50.
EXPLAIN THIS TO ME, DEVS. Give me some sort of reasoning. I can't come up with ANYTHING to excuse the crap you've done to our profession. It can't be area attacks, becauseswordsmen get good area attacks also (including area blind, which is a hell of a lot more defensive than any of the skill we have left). It also can't be KD because KD is pointless now.
The KD nerf isn't really that big of a deal. I could solo any NPC 1v1 before. It shouldn't be like that. I shouldn't have been able to kill 10k+ HAM red con NPCs.
Just fix the bugs in area attacks and I will be satisfied.
It would be really neat (and fit our class) if leg3 and action2 were area attacks. Right now I don't see the point of giving us -12 toughness compared to the other classes. Having those two skills as area attacks would be a fair balance for the penalty we're taking now.
I should clarify:you shouldn't be able to kill 10k HAM red cons as a 0/0/1/0 pikeman (which you could before the KD fix).
Master pikeman should be able to kill 10k npcs... and we can.
It was: KD with low HAM weapon, switch to high DPS weapon (I use a vibro lance), hit 5 times with normal attacks, switch back to low HAM weapon, repeat.
After I got bleed, I could pretty easily take on two 10k red cons at once. Bleed them both and alternate KD, squeezing in 3 or 4 normals between KD.
Post KD, I am solo'ing swarming dewback missions on tatooine :\ It's a little humbling considering what I could kill before, but there is much more excitement now. I am 3/0/1/1. Stun 2 is my bread and butter.
Iam a4/4/4/0 novice medic (I'll surrenderall 4 levels of diagnostics when I need my skill points back)and use 650 heal power stim D's which means I heal my 1100 HAM in one shot everytime.
I wish we had area bleed and area leg hit. I wish wookiee warcry worked. But until then, I'm surviving.
