Greetings Pikemen!

I am considering either mastering Fencer or Pikeman. I am already a TKM and have determined I hate guns, and through several months have gotten pretty good PvP relying solely on Melee. However all too often I am kited at about 20m distance....

So my major reason for thinking of Pikeman over Fencer (aside from the fact I would be even more unique) is the distance thing.

So here is my newbie question that will determine Pikeman or Fencer (since Fencer has superior defenses)...What is the range of a good Pike? What is the range of a lunge?

Unarmed lunge I know to be 15m (without VK's).

Thanks for your input!

Well...here's the deal: polearm lunge is 15m as well, but the VKs have (or are meant to have soon) a range of 5m. Our best weapons have a range of 4m, and theregular lance has arangeof 5m.

That is 100% messed up. I would have assumed a pike had more range than a knuckle...oh well, guess the laws of real world are skewed a bit...

I agree with you there. There should be no way a vibroknuckle could out reach a pike at a certain distance. Any of the brawler weapons should come up short to a pike technically, though a good two-handed sword could definitely come close in length.

Actually lunge with a VK only has a range of 5m. But lunge unarmed does 15m. Go figure.

Maybe that is some kind of flying kick, who knows.

I played Pikeman before and it can be fun and frustrating. You do lots of damage when you hit but hitting is usually the hard part.

Read the boards for pikeman before you choose, you'll see alot of frustration unfortunately, but you will also seea diehard hardheaded stubborn refusal to quit. You gotta really really love the profession to stick with it right now.
