Thread: The community

As a small community, we need to focus together to improve our chosen profession. Lately, our community on this board has been pulling to opposite sides of a spectrum. This needs to stop.

Complaints are useful in gaining attention for aspects of the gameplay that we find need improvements. Granted, all too easily, complaints become whines. Complaints are useful, whining is not. We need to keep the discussion constructive and try to be a little more positive.

We have also had a string of players who felt that thereare no or at most negligible problems with the class. If you feel like pikemen is 100% the way it should be and works just fine, then say that contructively. ***Do not*** come on here trolling, and flame, insult and ridicule those who think or feel otherwise. If you can solo X mob, do tell, but tell constructively. Explain how instead of insulting. If you say you never get beat by a TKA, well, explain how instead of flaming. Coming in here to only brag and exaggerate does nothing good. If you can do great things with pikeman and feel like telling others about it, help out the rest of the community by explaining the techniques rationally or give helpful hints. If you know of a way that the rest may have missed out on, some trick or technique, by all means, please share it, but share it constructively. Boosting your ego by bragging and insulting will not get anything done and will not help any of us.

We all want to be improved and perform better. We should not have to be infuriated by posts on this board, in one way or another, we need to stick together and work toward the common goal of better gameplay and improving our abilities.

I am not a community spokesman, I am simply trying to get us all away from this path the boards seem to have taken recently because nothing good is coming out of it.

Hurray!

While I'm not exactly above some griping now and then, I do try to inject a little positivity into my posts. However for every idea or thought I inject, there are at least 2 or 3 posters who try to rain on my parade. Very sad indeed. No wonder our forum is one of the smallest.

Don't be so proud of this technological terror you've created. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

Nicely said.

I for one, believe that we do NOT need new weapons, unless they will make a spear or javelin to help us compete in ranged warfare. everyone else who asks for more weapons don't really realize that almost every class only really has two usable weapons per class. some only one.

What I don't like is the people coming in flaming about how they can do things with pikeman, and then when it comes down to it, you find that it was mainly due to another skill.

Or the worst, the ones who say things are easy, then explain how they're using 2 grauls or a sludge panther or an AT-ST. Now creature handling is more Intricate then how it was in Ultima Online, but believe me I've seen fighting behind a pet, and that doesn't say much for the skill. In UO the Dragon fought for you, while you used your skill to keep him alive and sometime you lended a hand. In SWG, you use you pet to take all of the hits, while you stay squeaky clean and rack up. it's the same thing, and truly doesn't reflect on the class as much, because at that rate, you could tickle the enemy to death.

i seem to do pretty well against creatures... but that is likely the scout levels i have, the assorted melee traps and to hit bonuses help with the hitting and damage. on a average mob with 900 ham (its high for where i am, working towards lvl 4 pike the the brawler tree) i have hit on my better hits 700-900 dmg with a basic lance, though this is after maybe 1-2 web traps (the lvl 1 melee one).

As pvp goes, well i did fight a wookie rifleman, and would have done ok if i had a helmet, but alas i dont and he got me with a mind shot, but in 2 hits i had him at half life (action hit1 and lunge). using a basic lance to his t21... i dont think thats too bad.

Pikeman : The only class that couldn't hit the ground if they dropped their weapon.
Pikeman : Doing massive damage; to the air surrounding our target.
Pikeman : You're dead meat, unless you happen to be standing in front of us.
Pikeman : Because the devs were one profession short.
DEVs : Pikeman? Thats a class?

I'm a master brawler, and I notice that without my special moves given me from attaining Master Brawler, I would never be able to fight certain things. Now the one thing I don't do in this forum is brag about how some people can't beat a chuba, when I can. Because I realize that I am trying to maximize my potential from the other skills given to me.

Now if you are a scout. use traps. A ch? by all means use your pet. Just realize that on its own, Pikeman is a very sad class right now.
