Morning all just a lil post to say hi and introduce myself.
Been a master smuggler for a while now and been toying around with things to couple with it. Pistoleer bored me to tears so i tried tk. fun but those little vk's look kinda pansyish IMO. So I started fooling around with swordsman. Looks cool but didnt like the look of the power hammer. Plus since when has a hammer been a sword.
Then i was browsing through a weapons vendor. LVA. what that? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHH that looks cool. so i read up on you guys some and find oh not as broken as everyone makes out cool lets try it out.
So last night i made my way to polearms 4 and im LOVING it. was hitting for upto 2800 with polearms hit1. was lucky and got a 33% dmg slice on my lva too.
So far im pretty setup. getting buffs. have food/drink/ubese etc. Plan to, as recommended here, go up the 2 centre trees of the profession first.
Alas i do need one bit of advice though. Special attacks in pikeman itself. did a lil search here but didnt have much joy. What specials are working/broken? which are good which shouldnt i bother with? what do they do?
If you have a link or can post some info about them that'd be amazing thanks. Looking forward to hitting novice and digging in for the grind.

I don't know where it was ever recommended here to go up the centre trees first. The debate has always been Defense or Stances first. There are a scant few people who would advise going up the offenses tree anything but last. (and they would be wrong 
)
)As for the link to the specials thread, I've no idea why it was never stickied but jeffinthebox did an excellent breakdown of our moves and the dps for each. As I hate looking and such, maybe someone like Antares can dredge that post up and post a link for you. Or you could just go hunting.

thanks thanks and uhh is the bunny .swf a big file? im on a 2 megpipe here in work and its taking forever to load.

just right click my link and "save as..", then once it's D'ed you mayopen it in Ixplorer or something(it's a flash animation, so you might want that installed)

I don't care what anyone says. You NEED to get 2/x/x/2 FIRST.............hands down absolute Golden Rule for beginning Pikeman.........after getting 2/x/x/2 you do whateeeever you like..........and often when you're 'grinding' polearms XP the KD's sorta just slow you down if you try to use it so the best thing to do is get stances 2 FIRST and along the way pick up support (Duh).

exactly, go for the speed first, then get defense, and last the area attacks... the combat experience line will fill itself out nicely as you go along(the bleeds helps a lot too).
oh yes... unless you got master B, it might be wise to get the first sweep attack

I found the combat xp line to litterally not be a bother. You wont even notice it. It just sort of fills out over time, and every once in a while, when you go to talk to the trainer he/she will say "oh by the way, you can also learn this..."

i've got like 100k of combat exp already saved and when i hunt savage quenkers etc on dant i find it builds up fast anyway. Never really been bothered or worried about it when playing any profession. the one that always gets me is that dang apprentiship exp.
