Ok, I'm a BladeMaster, and I've been one for the past 4 monthes... but now it seems Fencer is the new Bandwagon Prof and its *ticking* me off, SOOO i thought i might try Pikeman. Although All i hear is complaints about this prof, I still want to do it... My biggest questions are these!

What weapon should you use! And what are the best you can get Crafted wise.

(Found a Long Vibro Axe 147-524dmg, 2.2 speed 44% wound ) Hella good ya?, still asking owner for price =]

With the patch will Pikeman stop missing! (I hear pikeman are quite hurtful... when they hit their target that is.) (What exactly are they improving)!

Thats about it. Thanks for any respondents.

As a pikeman you basically have two standard weapons that everyone has and two that are considered rare and we're all just getting to know.

For Standard weapon 1: The Long Vibro Axe - Kenetic Damage

Grr, I gotta stop doing that. Sorry.

You have the long vibro axe (LVA) which doeskenetic damage and has medium armor piercing and the vibro lance (VL) which does electricity damage and light armor piercing. Generally speaking the LVA does more damage on most things but is slower and less accurate. The VL is quicker and (as it stands right now) offers just slightly better accuracy mods.

All in all, as a pikeman if you pick up a few LVAs and VLs then get them all sliced, you should be set for everything you need.

The higher end/rare weapons that most people are talking about now days are the night sister lance and the night sister energy lance. Both are considered unique and offer a wide combination of accuracy, damage, and speed.

I'm starting to dig pikeman. Thanks a lot!

same boat, I was a fencer before they fixed it and it became a bandwagon profession, then rifleman, now I'm picking up pikeman. Sucks atm, but is hella fun.

I plan on starting pikeman very soon myself. i'm a pistoleer at the moment, and as soon as i get about 100k combat exp or so, i will begin the journey towards pikeman (i want the combat exp so i can be close to getting that +30 accuracy mod that seems to be so sorely needed).

I was wondering if anyone had any tips for training. I know when i want to seriously work on pistoleer skills, i go to Dantooine and kill huurtons/savage quenkers and the like, but seeing as pikeman is completely different from pistoleer, are there any strategies that you like to use to train effectively?

Searching the this forum will give ya some great information. But my MO has been ...

1. Must have buffs to gain serious XP. You can screw around here and there without, but if you're on the "Hunt", gotta have the buff.

2. Food is your friend. Most of the time you spend while hunting will be managing your mind pool.

3. 80% Kenetic. Ok, actually 73% and it works really well for me. But expect to go through armor very quickly.

4. Do all of the damage line, then the stances line, then the offense line.

5. Stick with it. It's really hard but towards the end (for me right now) it's starting to pay off and you can do some amazing things.

Best!

Do exactly what you did for Pistoleer, except buffed/spiced/fed, and pray.

Oh and my personal recommendation, which might conflict with *some* people's strategy, is to get 2/x/x/2 ASAP, doing that will really change how you play........it's a pretty big boost .

I've been talking to any pikeman i see on Kettemoor, asking how they thought the best way to work on pikeman was, and a lot of them said this same thing (buffs (fortunately i'll be master doc soon) spice and lots of hardwork) but kind of sadly, a lot of them told me to forget about it altogether and take up swordsman, fencer or tka.

How pathetic is that...

My advice to you (same as to everyone) get yourself a fast (spd), accurate (mods) and, if possible, efficient (HAM) basic lance. keep it forever, and use it to apply your sweeps/lunge/stun attacks (low damage, but you'll rarerly if ever miss, and with the speed, you can "stick" the state in no time)

typical battle for me is as follows...

equip basic lance

lunge (if trying to kite)

sweep

switch to LVA

bleed

back to basic

stun

back to LVA or VL (if electrical is preferred)

autoattack

(somewhere along the line throw an intimidate)

if the stun or intimidate wear off, reapply

I've used the basic strategy since I got the stun (Polearms 4?), and even then, I could stand against 5 baa-baas at once (humbabaas - corellia) or 2-3 war grondas

all without taking myself out.

just as a tip i recommend grabbing enough combat xp to get to 0/0/0/2...it helps so much having that +30 accuracy...i started a 0/0/0/2 and i can easily take most things on dantooine...held up well in an enraged rancor group...but all in all pikeman is quite strong if you are buffed...have spice for emergencies...and make use of all the food available...i usually keep a fishak and ryshcate around for food but glazed glucose and breath of heavens work wonders as well...and as for the new food coming in the patch...check out the friday feature...gonna help pikeman a good deal...definately have muon gold for emergencies...not always needed but in case you get aggroed by more than you can handle at the novice lvl...i can take savage quenkes pretty easy at 0/0/0/2 without muon and they give about 3100 xp per kill...if anyone is on bria and can do training or needs training give me a hollar
