As per Gunman's request I thought it proper to open up a thread to discuss/comment the already posted issues and perhaps add a couple or more as they appear. Since I agree with those posted currently I'll adda commentmy own where I believeit applies.

Damage:

There is definately a mistake in AP design of the Pikeman's arsenal. How can you justify a weapon as theVL or theNSEL having the same armor piercing capabilities of a knuckler or a one handed sword? Then how do you reason that the Basic Lance has no piercing properties? Do you honestly believe that lunging at a person with that thing will not skewer them? Along those lines I'd suggest our weapons having an increase of AP one level up. The design of the LVA is such that it can, and should be able to, tear through armor with the same ease it can tear through flesh and bone. With the arc it takes to strike and the weight of the blade all gathered up in the sharp axe head how can it not chop through everything with little to no effort? So, Light AP for the Basic Lance, Medium AP for the VLand Heavy AP for the LVA and NSEL.

Defences:

We need a definate increase in defences, be they melee/ranged defence, KD, Dizzy, Stun, Blind, Intimidate and so on and so forth. Weshould be the paramount of defence not the scapegoat of every bitter combat profession.

Spin/AoE:

Personally I believe every attack, besides the PolearmHit1-2-3 that are intended for single target use, should hit areas, at least if not the 1st tier of each hit since its the introduction to that technique but from the 2nd on definately. Many will complain that it is overpowered or whatnot but the point is that when you do swing a weapon like the LVA or VL or even the RCS its harder to hit a single opponent than it is to hit everything that moves in the weapon attack arc.

Uniqueness:

A Pikeman should be the only melee class you can't run from as the weapons have longer reach than others and are made in a way that can cripple a fleeingenemy well before he manages to get out of strike distance, so Pikemen's ActionHit2 shouldbe area Bleed/Posture Down to keep enemies in place for well placed strikes. As an addition the Pikeman's Posture Down attacks should be defended harder than any other melee profession.

Those are the lot for now, more to come as I wake up and the thinking gets back to the ordinary.

* The use of the male sex is purely for refference reasons and is in no way an attempt to degrade or null the respected female portion of the Pikeman community.

Top issues: in no particular order.....

....posture change and dam modon hit3

....NSEL...should be hard to obtain, but possible, and the reward should reflect the time and skill it takes to acquire.

....AP...If nothing else LVA and NSEL should be AP3

....Block...50% reduction come on...we are already penalized by less defenses (mel/rang/vs.) than other professions...raise this and/or raise Def aquity/equilibrium so that if block has to still take dam, it is a 60% or greater reduction and the boost in Aquity/equilibrium increases our chance to block..

...Accuracy........ double digit negative modifiers at all ranges including ideal? makes no sense....

...Range...how does a 5 foot long pole not have a longer range than a pair of knuckels?

Well since this is the discussion thread, I'll discuss a few things.

Damage -

Am I the only one whos noticed lately that we're kicking some major ass in the damage area? I've been using polearm hit 3 and area attack 2 a lot lately and let me tell you, I can mow down a pack of enraged rancor in no time flat.

I mean, my pike cuts through those guys like a knife through butter. I guess the idea of the stealth fixes must be true, because I'm doing some massive damage with my pole lately.

Block -

Once again, I must be the only person that block works for. I do notice that when I'm fighting critters and such, block doesn't work as often, but when I'm fighting nightsisters, for instance, I seem to block between every attack. Sometimes my attack animation won't even kick in because my toon is perpetually in a block animation.

My problem is with the damage we take with it. Thats BS and needs to be addressed. If fencers and swordsmen can get off scot-free, we should too.

Accuracy -

Now here is my biggest problem. This has nothing to do with PvE mind you. In PvE I hardly ever miss. Maybe 1 in 20 shots or less will miss. In PvP however, thats a different story. For some reason I can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn. I notice it the most vs. fencers, but I've noticed it with other professions as well.

What makes this strange is that I can attack the same person with power hammer that has less accuracy than my lance, and have a better chance to hit them with the power hammer than the lance. You guys figure that one out.

I can't be the only one that has these issues with PvP. There has to be others out there as well.

Defenses are a joke, toughness must be increased seriously.. I.E. i'd gladly trade the broken block ability for a big increase in thoughness - we are weak as it is now.

I am also a tkm on my character so i can easily compare, when weilding the pike i easily take 3 times more damage then when weilding my knuckler or nothing at all.

Would also be nice with something like damage mitigation 4

I wont even go into PVP it's not worth it.. give us a massive head hit and maybe we can compete with ANY other elite prof as it is now, we can maybe take on a non fighting prof, sad thing is that a ws fighting a pikeman could probably craft a vk and level up tk fast enough to beat the pikeman, during the duel. (obviously a little bit exaggerated)

Although PH3 seems to do some damage now in PVE, it still seems to do less damage in PVP then UAH3.

OK, so we are slow hitting, we have bad accurracy, can we at least get to deal some damage WHEN we hit?

Just a few thoughts from a frustrated master pikeman.
