Thread: Seeking advice on acquiring decent pole arms

I am Pikeman 0 0 0 3 and using a metal staff with 74-132 dmg and around 4.5 speed. I am on Bria and have only checked a few vendorsbut they never seem to have any pole arms. I amcurrentlyMaster Swordsman and am not really looking for top of the line, should I just go try and loot one or will this take longer than finding something decent on a vendor, I cant really afford to spend too much.
Where are the best place to loot?

If you're going Pikeman long term, you should hunt Nightsisters and attempt to loot some good polearms. If its just hologrinding, pick up a player crafted Long Vibro Axe and swing away.

Yeah, at this point a decent player crafted LVA or VL should do over twice the damage as your staff, with faster speed. Shouldn't be too hard to find one from a good smith. This should help you lvl through pike to a point where you can take on nightsisters and hope for a better lance to drop. When you do decide to try your hand with the NS witches, just make sure you start out low. Outcasts and initiates wont drop very much usefull loot, but they are a good way to test yourself. If you cant kill a couple at once easily, then don't bother sticking around, go to dant or lok and lvl up some more. I found that NS rangers were a good source of lances and axes for the mid level pikeman. Not nearly as hard as the weavers or protectors, but they can still drop decent weapons (best Ive gotten from a ranger was a 630 dmg VL). Once you are proficient at killing rangers or sentinels, try stalkers, then move up to the spell weavers and protectors, as they allegedly have the best drop rates or nice weapons (though I have had nil luck with protectors, and much more with stalkers, this seems to be the common perception.) I couldn't really say for sure but I believe most ofthe high damage weapons I have looted have come from weavers and I also got a +11 armor assembly tape from one for sure. The Weavers are actually pretty easy in my experience as their kinetic resistance is less than the protectors and maybe even the Stalkers and Sentinels.

Spellweavers and protectors don't give sh!te.
Rangers and outcasts seem to always drop the goods for me.

Interesting I loot the best stuff of spellweavers and protectors. Got a 600+ pike, +12 tape, +7 tape from protectors so far.

For me, killing Rangers, Outcasts, Initiates etc is quicker/moreloot but a one-way ticket to a pack/inv full of plates/leathers/clasps/basic DoT lances
Spellweavers and protectors tend to drop less often it seems but a much better chance os a useable weapon.

Yeah, Firey pretty much hit it on the head. The higher HAM ones have a better chance of dropping something good when they dod drop something. But because they take longer to kill and aren't as plentifully available, Outcasts and Rangers are often a better choice. They may not drop as good of stuff as often per kill but you can slaughter them in larger numbers more quickly.
