Thread: Large increase in Pikemen ?

I don't know about other servers, but on Lowca, basically 1 out of 4 people are Pikemen now. I was a master pike for 6 months (Some people might remember me from posting here all the time back in the day), however since then I dropped it to do the hologrind.. after I unlocked, I considered going back pike just for kicks, but, I tend to prefer to play profs that aren't played very much..

Did something change? Did they fix something on pike? Am I missing something?

I can't figure out why so many of them suddenly sprang up.. even though, it's basically the second worst profession in the game when you compare it to the damage output/speed/utility of other profs (Don't kid yourselfs, k?)

Thanks guys/gals

Honestly I thought it was that too, but I started asking them and tehy'd just say "I heard they were strong" or something along those lines.

I certainly haven't seen anything even close to 1 pikeman per 4 people, but there has been an increase. Aside from holocrons, my assumption is that it's mostly dabbling in pike for the ability to wield DoT polearms in PvP.

If and when DoT weapons get hit with the 75% PvP reduction I expect to see most of those pikemen evaporate.

it is true they are one of the worst professions, and i had to do it cause my holo said so... but the more and more i do it i am digging it...what makes this profession so bad A$$ is the DOT weapons..when u can get a polearm to disease the mind for 250 damage with 2 minute tick, u have yourself one uber profession and mix in swordsman and rifleman..can i say ouch!!!

Its like this.....

TKA had its day in the sun with KD/Dizzy

Fencer is the current FoTM

Swords is hands down the best PvE melee

All thats left is Pikeman.

Who do you think is going to get the big boost come revamp time?

I think you're exaggerating a bit with the 1 in 4 ratio, but the numbers definitely are up. I haven't seen 1 in 4, by a long shot... there are still far more TK/Docs, Rifleman/CMs, Swordsman/CMs, and Anything/CH.

I must say, I'm also seeing an increase in Squad Leaders lately, but that may well be the hologrind.

On tempest I see a lot of pikemen. I am constantly asked for training and a few times training for master as well. A lot of them are holo grinding but I am surprised at the number of people who acutally want to play the class.

Easy access to DoT weapons, whats not to love. It screams for people looking for the "I WIN" button.

Yeps, and with the devs refusing to FIX (FIX FIX FIX FIX FIX not bloat!) NPCs and especially NS npcs the access to higlevel dot weapons has just gotten way too easy...

I started collecting dot weapons when i started the game (around 6 months ago), hardly any available and all of them were rare... now just see any tradeforum and you'll be swamped in auctions with NS looted weapons...

You guys are missing the obvious;

Everyone who started grinding for jedi, are finally getting around to do the last profession they ever wanted to do ... pikeman.

They just happen to be all doing it at the same time.

Pikeman was my first holo back in december but i didn't do it then cuase all you ever heard was how bad they were. I ended up mastering it in early april and kinda like it. The HAM costs still blow especially mind, i have trouble keeping it under control evenwith brandy. But so far i like it more than swordsman, even with my 1.6 speed scythe. One thing i've noticed is that pikeman have better range with their aoe attacks than swordsman, but then again, even at my current state in swordsman i'm still
doing more dmg than when i use a pike.

Anyway, i have noticed a sh!tload of ppl on lowca going pikeman. When i mastered it there still weren't that many, but now i get bombarded with tells asking for pikeman training, i think it might have to do with -EpiC- and his uber dot lancesalong with theenergy lances he has
