Actually for DWB I prefer swordsman to tank, and then RIFLEMEN for damage dealing....but that's just from personal experiences with my guild when we crafted out mandolorian bracer.

PvE, though....well, heck, Pikeman almost all the time. I've not yet been outdamaged on Acklay by a swordsman in the geo caves. No swordsman could take a moderately bugged spawn and turn it into a HellSpawn the way a pikeman can (I find that simply spamming spinattack2 and sweep2 back and forth works wonders if you already have 8-10 spawning....)...the only advantage swordsmen have over me is the ability to take out Kwis much easier. On most other things, too...a lot of swordsmen have trouble keeping up with me if blast and kinetic resists are about even. Quite a few swordsmen aren't speedcapped (understandable because of how much it costs!), but even the ones who are don't necessarily have hammers as big as the pikes we can loot.

Quite a few pikemen aren't speedcapped either, and many don't have especially high damage pikes.

The average swordsman is better suited to PvE than the average pikeman. We do perfectly well, but they have the advantage. Headhit3 is an absolutely brutal attack, and area3 puts our area attacks to shame for pure damage.

Against most low to mid level NPCs I'd choose pikeman over swordsman any day because of our ability to area dizzy and KD. Against the high-end NPCs who are basically immune to states swordsmen are simply more effective damage dealers. Against creatures we're again relatively even on low to mid level stuff, but at the high end a swordsman is going to take most things down faster than a pikeman could.

There are pikeman on my server who outdmg two jedi's in the geo cave (single handedly)

Good LVA's are about the same price as Good Sytches, and sytche max dmg is about 200-275 less then a good LVA's ... Not to mention if your also Master Fencer your basicaly speed caped

Pikeman i know are doing 5-8k dmg per attack on mobs and about 4k per on area attacks ...

not to mention Pikeman is now in the new pvp template

How does being Master Fencer cap Pikeman speed?

That's the problem though, a speed capped swordsman vs a speed capped pikeman with normal weapons. We would not win. In order to outdamage other profs you need high end sticks. We're not really the best at anything at this point, save perhaps a group of mid level NPC's since our area attack and KD is in two seperate attacks. Hrm...I need a cookie now...or some food.

Oh and just so no one misinterprets me. I don't think that swordsman is better than pikeman. That's because pikeman gets a nice special mod at the master box. And that's the "cooler than any other profession +1000" mod. Of course, this is my utterly biased opinion.
