Thread: To the Pre-Curb Pikeman who remaind Pikeman

Just wanted to knowhow the profession is now. I was a former Master Pikeman back in the day with an exceptional LVA that could kill a full template jedi in 3 hits. I know you are more of a defensive profession now but for offense what other proffession do you pick up. In addition what seems to be the best pike with the highest damage. Thanks for the update.

Master Pike with Master Swordsman for the higher damaging specials works well for me. You get Power and Critical hits, head hit and flurry. Some of the missing pike animations, too. If you want damaging melee, swordsman is your choice.

Do you PvP or PvE with this template. I also have been reading alot of Pikeman going with Doctor, like the old school swordsman/doctor combo.

I am currently master pikeman / master tka / 0034 swordsman / master brawler / novice medic.
I picked up this template from someone on the pike boards, and I must say it totally rocks. I have a +25 healing efficiency shirt that lets me heal myself for 800-900 damage along with my stim d that heals me half my bar. You have all the goodies you need from the swordsman tree. Plus if you want you dont have to wear armor because of the innate tka armor. I wear armor because of pikeman aa's. Plus the riposte posture (sp?) is very good in my opinion, doesnt last very long, but works well when needed for those few seconds. Hope this helps/

I just got master Pikeman today, and it seems like the old Master Swords/ Master Doc combo. (I'm also master Doc, and master Doc for life... maybe)
For damage wise, much better than swordsman, At least in my experience, the thing is this though. It seems pikeman doesn't have the same damage
potential as swordsman. I mean the difference between base and mod is much greater with swordsman, however pikeman has better weapons. My pre-CU
scythe blade converted UGLY. I mean trash prue trash. which means pound for pound the best weapon i had as a swordsman was STILL my Hammer, which
was really great, but its a friggin hammer.
In contrast, the Pikeman has the Kashyyyk Bladestick. (Excellent) and when I get that far in the quest I can get that pike from Necro. (Even MORE excellent)
As an offense Pike are IMO top notch. If I were to go Master Swords and drop doc, I would be heavy heavy heavy damage. I wonder even if i would be on par
with jedi.... I doubt it but close maybe. I would never drop doc though. I do offten seem to need my Speed buff (*rolls eyes* Can't wait for the nerf).
So in summary, Pikeman seems like the new Swordsman. I'm sorry I don't really know what pike was like before CU, but I hope my insight has at least helped
in anyway.

If your going to be doing a lot of group PvE, then Master Pike/Master Swords/Master Brawler would be best for pure damage, using whatever leftover points you have for whatever else you want. You can depend on the group healers for your healing, and also Stim D's.
If you want to do solo PvE or PvP, Doctor is almost a requirement at this point. No amount of defense or offense can help you against players when they can heal 2/3 of their Health bar ever 6 seconds, plus the extra from Stim D's, and all you can do is 1200 from Stim D's every 30 seconds (Using Ruby Bliel). It seems that without buffs, PvP has gone from having Rifleman/TKA to be good to having someDoctor to be good. For solo-ing, healing isn't as important unless your going after uber targets, but it does help immensly.

I am Master Pikes, TKM and DOC 4000 - it is all you will need for PvE & PvP (my opinion). You can tank just about anything and have stong heals to boot. PvP is more than viable and even against 5, youstand a better-than-good chance of surviving, but depends a loton their professions

master pike and swords with a little doc is the way to go i believe, high dmg, good heals for both pvp and pve

I have decided to go Master Doctor / Master Pikeman. My question is where should I dump the remaining skill points. I was thinking swordsman but I am not sure what tree to go up.

/agree I am the same temp and I've only ever lost to two templates - the full temp FOTM jedi (mdef/mls/enh/heal)
and a TKM/MDOC (but as I've stated before thats because I don't have the patience to fight a 45min duel...

If you wish to survive anything for any length of time, you must have the improved CoB that TK gives you. On Rince, I can tank a load of lvl 82 pikets. Without CoB running, they hit me for 189 a time. With CoB running, that comes down to 103. 80ish less over a period from 12-15 mobs is a lot of reduction in damage - you will need this

Also, it almost doubles the amount of times they miss you....
