Thread: why use warcry?

I've been thinking about this for a while, and more and more I'm doubting the usefulness of Warcry. It is an area attack, but it has such a wide area of effect that it seems to only be useful as a sort of area taunt, or if I'm already surrounded by a mob. One-on-one against anything, I can't tell how long it sticks, but I believe its effect ends as soon as you do damage on the target. So my question is what is the right situation in which to effectively use Warcry? I've recently found it helpful while rooted against a ranged profession, since you can't hit them anyway and you can take the time to heal... but it doesn't seem very good for PvE or even PvP against another melee profession.

It lowers the attack speed of an opponent by a pretty decent number (I believe it's either 40 points or 40%? I'll have to look again), and lasts for between 15-20 seconds IIRC. While it is a wide area, its quite effective even against a single enemy if you can do it without drawing more aggro from the enemies around.

I find it handy when I'm soloing a Gorax or something else big and my action runs out, I'll imtimidate, warcry, and infuse, then I can sit there and let my cob protect me while I regen.

Just don't ever use it in the DWB.
