I am building a melee template and had extra points to take pikes. I was wondering what the difference is in warcry vs improved warcry. I was either going 0040 or 0130. I never did pikes in the CU so my knowledge of their skills is limited.
Thanks.

I found that warcry would aggro half of the lair on you, improved would pretty much aggro the whole lair, and some more creatures that happened to be in the area. It's pretty cool.

But not cool in the DWB.

Improved Warcry decreases speed by 40 points for 20 seconds. I don't know about the non-improved version, though.
-40 speed is very significant. Slap on thyroid rupture and they're going to be really hurting in the speed department.

That is my goal. TKM, MCM, Then cant decide on pikes.1030, 0040, or 0130. But the speed debuff from cm + warcry + intimidate will be a pain to fight through.

Is it really -40? I haven't tested it, but through use I don't think I've seen that much of a difference.

I'm not big on PvE so I haven't really tested it out there. When I go PvE I'm usually in a support role as CM and let the Jedi do all the work.

yup! and it's a pretty significant difference. The thing is though, with doc buffs, it basically just negates the buff, so they're back to hitting at normal speed for the duration of warcry.
Test it out on a friend though, don't have him get buffs, duel, have him get used to the speed, then put on warcry and ask if there's a difference

Imagine you're Combatant or Special Forces and you fly too close to an entire squadron of Stormies. You can see how the rest of the story unfolds. My vehicle gets disabled and I have no choice but to fight or run.
Applying Improved Warcry sticks to the entire squadron and allows me to dispatch the crew or allows me time to burst run away. Soloing high end mobs also gets easier. Gorax, CL85 Nightsisters, Giant Kimoglias, etc...
And because Improved Warcy has an extended range, imagine the benefits in PvP. Fine, you want to root/snare/paralyze me?That's when I release Warcry on you. Kind of evens things out...almost.
While I don't recommend Improved Warcry as a grind tool, it works wonders at the right moment.
